Saturday afternoon, Mike Perault who is apparently a safety guy for LSU (not sure as he didn’t have any ID on him), was walking around the RV lots shutting down tailgates due to improper generator setups. Apparently it is against the rules to use the small portable generators in the RV lots unless you have an exhaust stack on them…which no one does. You don’t need the stacks if you are anywhere on campus OTHER THAN the RV lot so the safety concerns is somewhat puzzling to me. We have been tailgating in the same exact spot using the same exact set up (2 Honda E2000’s) for years. Why would this dipshit pick the biggest game of the year…the last home game of the year…to pump out his chest and shut down tailgates? We had a TON of people at our gate so it was chaos trying to figure out a plan to satisfy this prick. Ultimately, we ended up putting the generators on top of the RV and running extension cords down to all of the TV’s, radio, lights, etc. I understand that there are rules in place, but why couldn’t this facker come out the week before…explain the rule…and let us come up with a plan to address it? Like I said, we have had the same set up for years and never heard a word from anyone at LSU. Apparently, not only is he a prick, but he sucks at his job. He ended up calling the LSU police over to our tailgate to enforce his demand to shut it down.

Yes…I’m mad.

It's a rule, that they enforce regularly regardless of the size of the game, every game. I've seen them shut several people down over the years. The difference between on campus tailgates and the RV lots is you may have a few generators spread out over a large area, in the RV lots you have several hundred RVs running generators stacked on top of each other. From what I understand the concern is excessive exhaust fumes.

How long have the rules been posted? Were they recently changed?

I would have to disagree. No one in our area had ever heard of this rule in the 4 years we have been in the same spot doing the same exact thing.

Yes! That's him. He shaved off some of that beard, but that is him.

Retired? Maybe that is why he couldn't provide any ID. But for some reason, the LSU police still listened to him and they tried to shut us down.

I don't know how the RV lots function, (do you pay for a season pass?) if so, is get with the entity that controls them and bring up that issue. LSU, and more specifically TAF, makes a ton of money off of all things football. They generally will be receptive to legitimate concerns of persons who are paying a premium to enjoy the game/pre-game. If you know others who had the same problem, getting them to "sign on" with your complaint may be even better. If the lots are controlled by LSU parking office though, this might be a moot point though as they probably would not care about your concerns as they are horrible soulless creatures whose only purpose is to make others miserable.

You've been in the same RV spot for 4 years and have yet to get busted for not running a generator stack? I see those guys make several rounds every Saturday checking just for that, seen them even stop and shut people down multiple times until they get it fix. I'm also pretty sure it's even printed on the TD Village passes. It's a rule, and has been for years.
