Hosted by the North Gate Merchants Association, the free outdoor concert and makers fair runs from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. Friday on West Chimes Street from Highland Road to Lake Street. This year's festival features two stages — the Abita main stage will feature performances from original bands such as Alabaster Stag and Water Seed; the Raising Cane’s singer-songwriter stage will showcase more intimate solo performances. An Arts Village will showcase nearly 30 local artisans.
Clarke Cadzow, owner of Highland Coffees and one of the founding members of the festival, said the goal is to celebrate the unique history of the North Gate community.
“Since the mid-1920s, North Gate has been the second oldest continually operating commercial and residential neighborhood in Baton Rouge," he said. "The neighborhood has been the center of off-campus life for the LSU community since that time.”
Should be kind of cool. It is supposed to be sort of a throw back to all of the music venues that were there in the 1990s and before.

Yeah, I miss the 90s too.

I went last year and it's a blast, not a bad way to spend a few hours in beautiful weather.

Good stuff.
LSU students definitely have nicer housing, better facilities, etc. The north gate music scene is definitely smaller than it used to be though.
