the OP’s daughter is 6. The only higher ranking elementary school in the area is Westdale Heights & they just passed the Lab School in the latest rankings.
If you’re not Catholic, the Lab School is the best option in the area if you can get in.

No, I don’t have nearly enough information to make that assessment. I also highly doubt people are bribing admissions members or anything like that.
It just isn’t meritocratic, even by prep school standards.
The interesting thing is that usually private schools let in kids because their parents write big checks. That isn’t corrupt either, not in the legal definition, but it’s also certainly not meritocratic. However at U High, I don’t think they even have to do that.
The name is all that’s needed, and the name isn’t often the type that any other school would care about.

My son’s school has admission tests and interviews, but I think they only use that to weed out local problem kids they don’t want to take on...which is kind of funny because it’s a boarding school for bad kids, or it has been historically.

St Stanislaus? Every kid I knew that got sent there was a major frick up. This was in the 80s and 90s though. May not be the same now.

Only Pre K 3 is $12K.
High school is $20,574.00 Before they beg for donations also. Look it up.

Yeah I knew it was somewhere around 18k. It may have gone up slightly since I last looked. We live a few houses down from the school so I considered sending my kid there years ago.
I have 2 nieces and 1 nephew there. Ultimately I just decided that it was too expensive though.

Yeah, I’m not sure if it’s still like that. I only know the local boys and my son just started,...not many kids get kicked out of 7th grade and need to board.

U High is a great school -- especially K thru 6...some great teachers. They do have problems at the top according to my sauces. I think one of them has been well documented.
