re: LSU has no idea how to help students

similar thing happened to me my last semester of grad school at Southeastern. They cancelled the class due to lack of registration for it. They settled it quickly and set up an internship for me to do instead. It actually worked out better than a class and was another thing to add to resume.

Similar thing happened to me in what was supposed to be my final semester. The University had switched tracks midway through my junior year, adding some classes and dropping others; however, they still offered the old classes to those that were over 3/4 of the way through their coursework so they could complete on schedule.
Well, I meet with my advisor to discuss what classes I need to schedule and when (because some classes were only offered once a year). He says, "You need this, this and this. Take them here, here and here." So, I go with it.
I take a semester's worth of courses only to find out he was using the new track instead of the old when he helped me make out my schedule. I wasted a semester taking courses I didn't need and missing the opportunity to take the ones I did need.
He tried to make up for it by giving me two independent studies that counted towards my requirements, but I was still a semester behind and graduated in the winter instead of the spring.
It was partially my fault, I'll take some of the blame, but, damn, the man had been helping me plot my coursework for four years. I trusted him to know what was required.

LSU SUCKS DICK
So does the football team.
They’re gonna be lucky to finish last in the SEC.

emailing all of your troubles will get you nowhere in life. I hate people who just email everything instead of at least picking up a phone. if you REALLY need shite resolved quickly you need to learn to have face to face conversations with people. Ya know, actually interacting with people. get off of your phone or laptop and go VISIT your counselor until you get them to find a resolution. if you'd like to talk more about this lets set up a meeting.

There is no way they keep a class for one student. That's not how they work.

Perhaps a single section of a single class, but not when there are other sections available (which it appears there are). That's a waste of resources I wouldn't expect any school to allow.

quote:Agreed. Just wanted to point that that in some special circumstances, a school will continue with a class size that small. My freshman year of college was 2005... and I was set to go to a school in New Orleans. Because of this, I was "off" some classes by a semester and the school worked with me and specific professors to get me the classes I needed to graduate on time.

What's worse is LSU doesn't give a frick. As long as they keep getting tuition money from you, they're all good and jolly. That's all they care about is making money, just like any university across America unfortunately.

They shuffled some finance class numbers around my senior spring. So I ended up signing up for a finance I had done. Dropped and picked up govt acct, Prof just added me first day when I showed up and explained.

I had to go to Germany to get the language credits I needed over the Summer, or wait until December to graduate.
LSU DGAF
The place is a fricking cesspool.

I went on the first day, but no teacher nor any of my classmates were in the class
I had a similar experience. Except it wasn't the first day....it was the final. And it was like 3 classes. I showed up to take the final.....no one there. I mean, I hadn't been to the classes in weeks, but no one came find me and tell me that the final was going to be at a different class room at a different time. I failed all those classes due to LSU's lack of communication. I was easily going to pull out a D when I aced those finals. Never trusted that school to be helpful after that.
In all seriousness, that did happen. I was a lazy POS and took a semester off while still paying tuition and severely hurting my GPA

The people who think this is his fault clearly have not dealt with LSU recently. This is probably 0% the guys fault
This guy gets it. It’s the schools fault for putting this class on the registration only for it actually not to be offered. I don’t know how I could have predicted that beforehand
