re: LSU football going to electronic tickets - this will be a cluster for the ages

My 80yr old grandfather has been a season ticket holder since the beginning of time, and he still uses an old school flip phone from 2006. (For emergencies only)
There’s no way on earth he can operate a smart phone.
I guess this is LSUs way of telling him “Thanks for the 1000’s of $$ over the decades, but no more paper tickets, no more games for you.....And no, your grandson can’t print them out for you either.”
He’s gonna be hot when he finds out.

If only his grandson could read.

bar code didn't change on the tickets i had for baseball. Not sure what he's talking about.
Here it is explained
All ticket apps use this technology now and have for at least a year

Can you imagine the absolute clusterfrick that lines will be when 100,000 drunk and rowdy fans try to use their smartphones at the gates to get into Tiger Stadium?

Yes it did!
They had a stand alone app that was incredible to use.
I bought discounted tix and transferred them to my LSU fan friend in Atlanta easily...

I'm saying the barcode didn't constantly change.

Seriously?
The QR code still updates after you’ve downloaded it.
Edit: that’s if it changes at all. The ones I had last year didn’t change within the month between downloading them and the game.
The point of downloading it is to avoid the possibility of not being able to pull it up due to an overloaded cell network that renders that task useless. So, using the art of reasoning, if you can't pull up the non-downloaded bar code due to a jammed cell network, do you think you can pull up the most up to date bar code if said network is jammed?
I'll give you a few minutes to process that enigma.

They allowed you to print out tickets? If you were using on the app it did. It’s not something you will physically see.

I used it in my phone's wallet, while not connected to internet because my battery life with low. So unless it magically updated without a connection...

I think that “benefit” is way overblown from whoever said it.
And the article about the technology said it updates with every transaction so if you’re using the app and download beforehand, I think you’ll be fine.
If someone buys a screenshotted ticket, they deserve what they get.

This makes sense.

100%. It prevents someone from selling it, but keeping a screenshot that they use beforehand.
As long as people are smart enough to use the app or add it to their wallet, it should work perfectly.

I’ve tried to find out how but it says it doesn’t need cell service or WiFi once it’s in your wallet or saved to the app

So that right there means it doesn’t update after you buy it as long as you don’t sell it yourself.

Don’t they do this now for NFL games?

Only way that would work is if they download all possible codes for every change when and auto updates them from that file, but that would also have to transfer from the app to the wallet. But that sounds ridiculous.

Well I guess one way to test it they are lying or not is to take a screenshot of your own ticket. Try to scan it and see if it works. If it doesn’t then scan the one in your app or wallet and see if it does.
