Are you living in or out of Louisiana?
What's your yearly salary?
Did you go in a different field?
Do any of y'all know someone with this degree and how are they doing?

i'd think with the rise of AI, this will really phase out a lot of people that were thinking of going this route...

Disagree. I’m knee deep in AI. It’s like anything else. Just because it replaces some part of a technological space, it also opens up a vast amount of new spaces that are in high demand of people that can understand the low-level nature of computing.

My first "real" job in IT was for Gulf Oil in 1982.
I was rockin $19,200 a year.
At the end of my career just over $200k a year

I have a computer science degree from LSU. I do well enough you won’t believe me. I have many employees making six figures with technical degrees, some with non technical degrees. Many went to LSU. The thing about software engineering is you can get the degree, but still not be good at it. Best software engineer I know has no degree at all and is about 35 years old.
Many of my interns end up leaving the state. Typically to Texas due to lack of opportunity in Louisiana.
AI has been interesting. We all have to learn it, and how to get value from it. It is indeed very useful. Thus far it’s been augmenting us not replacing. The basic thought is that over time it’ll reduce the need for additional people rather than replace people. At least in the 3ish year timeframe.
