Col. Kevin Reeves, the superintendent of Louisiana State Police (LSP), is retiring after 30 years with the law enforcement agency, Gov. John Bel Edwards announced Tuesday, Oct. 27.

Retiring with three days notice, with a hurricane on the way? Very odd. Wonder if there is more to the story.

Probably just taking the chance to get out before society hates him for no reason.

The announcement comes after the agency came under fire for several controversies exposed by the Investigative Unit in recent months. Earlier this month, the NAACP called for Reeve's resignation over two separate incidents at State Police. First, it was learned that a state trooper was caught calling a co-worker a "f****** n*****" but was never disciplined. Then an investigation was opened into the death of a Black man who died after a 2019 chase with state troopers. Audio from one of the trooper's recording devices, obtained more than a year later, caught the officer saying he " beat the ever living f*** out of him."

Probably all of that. Plus the planned protest at the LSP facility at 4pm today calling for his resignation.

That and I would imagine that guy in North Louisiana that died during the traffic stop.

Ticking time bomb.

You don't want to find out the reason behind this any sooner than you have to.

I have heard it isn't going to boast well for the highest paid "premier law enforcement agency in Louisiana"

The most corrupt organization, in the most corrupt state in the US, there is almost a 100% chance there is.

I couldn't imagine being a cop these days. I'd stay employed while attending night school to learn another trade and I'd be fricking gone when I got a new job.

GONE.

30 years with LSP equals roughly about 100% salary. No need to stay anyway.

JBE should have cut this fricker loose long ago. WHen the video footage from the beating death of ronal greene is released people will be outraged. The state police need a good cleaning out, from top to bottom.
