You’re not an outlier. 21% body fat is fat. Again, our society has such a skewed perception these days.

Do you need me to do the math for you?

227lbs of lean tissue. Something you somehow believe to be impossible.

Also... I said it was fat. I'm not arguing it isn't fat. I'm simply pointing out that according to BMI it should be 45% fat.

I’m also dealing with low T at 39 years old. I’m trying to lose excess fat (20 pounds) and sleep better. I already lift and run, so I’m just continuing there.

My t level is 242.
Mine was that exact number 2 years ago at the age of 35. Staying off TRT for now as well

Why live your life like that when you’d be healthier on it?

I am the same age as you with high blood pressure as well.
I have been taking testosterone for over 20 years now.
No disadvantage for me so far. The advantages are arthritis is better, more energy and strength. last but not least, more sex drive!

no you wouldnt and you wouldnt even be ripped at 175

it is but naval to shoulder is even better but unless you have been lifting hard and heavy for 3-5 years minimum, BMI still applies

Anywho, losing 25-30 pounds would definitely be a huge help.
Think of it this way. You are carrying around an EXTRA 25-30 lb sack of potato's every step you take...up the stairs, down the hall, at the job, out in your yard working...

Look at your diet...IDK how good yours is but if you are consuming lots of sugar, sodas, processed foods...that's not helping.

all true

for test production..no

Yes I would. Believe me, I know. Several years ago, I lost a good amount of weight. I got down to about 175 lbs.
Folks thought I was on meth or crack or they thought I was sick and going through chemo

because people are not used to seeing people at normal weight, surrounded by fatties

For example, this is 6' 175ish when ripped. most of you are under muscled, weak as piss and carry way too much fat around mid section

quote:

The old BMI index is way outdated (and very inaccurate and can be deceptive) developed in 1972 by one Dr Ancel Keys.

Dr Keys index was largely based on the work of one Mr. Adolphe Quetelet, which was created inthe middle 1800s. Quetelet was not even a medical professional! He was an mathematician, astronomer, statistician, and sociologist

No doubt Dr Keys was a good man and well meaning. However, he got several things in relation to nutrition wrong. Mainly on the idea of saturated fat and heart disease.

The old BMI index does not take into account many measurements such as muscle mass, age, bone density, and body frame.

well its made to measure a population not an individual

we have been over this with you fat fricks 100 times already on this board.

less than 10% of the population does any form of resistance training 2x per week or more based on the data we have

being generous maybe half lift with the intensity, consistency and long enough to build any real muscle that could throw off the BMI scale.... stop making excuses

quote:

BTW, I have consulted with my doctor and we agree my ideal weight should be 190lb range.

would that put you below 15% body fat on a Dexa scan? 99% chance that is a no, so your doctor is wrong. He is prolly skinny fat or just plain ole fat frick himself

quote:

Yep, I know. Right now I am a portly 225lbs. My goal is the 190lb range.

Every person is different with diverse body structure, make up, muscle mass...

The old BMI Index has a 'one size fits all' mantra. That's not good.

bro you keep bringing up muscle mass

unless you have been lifting for years upon years for hypertrophy, you dont carry nearly the amount of muscle you think you do and especially if you have low test levels

yall are delusional as frick, like most fat people

bet you get to 190 and you still are just getting to a true 20% body fat or higher....which is still fricking fat

in the 70's & 80's 15% was considered normal bodyfat. now we got guys thinking if they get to 20% they are something special

this thread, like almost every thread on the OT that involves finance or health, is full of delusional fricks who do not want to face reality.

This right here, but mine jumped from < 200 to 800+. Doc started me on a low dosage but ramped it up because I had none of the potential effects.

I also lost 20+ lbs, started eating better, lifting and exercising more.

When it was low, I still had sex drive but I wasn't as good as I once was (to steel a line from Toby Keith). My main symptoms were depression, lack of energy, and my body just hurt for no reason (muscle soreness and joint pain).

Just a note to everyone getting this tested by their PCP or a "low T" clinic. If your treatment is based on labs that were drawn in the afternoon, your PCP probably doesn't know better or your T clinic just doesn't care because they want to sell you testosterone. Testosterone declines naturally through the day, and tests after 10 am should be repeated in early AM while fasting.

Yeah. I can agree with that. I know folks who are 40-50-60lbs over-weight and think they are some Adonis.

For example, this is 6' 175ish when ripped. most of you are under muscled, weak as piss and carry way too much fat around mid section

Now you are using some guy who is probably a fashion model that is a 20 something as an example of what all men should look like?

I can almost guarantee that this guy works out 2 maybe 3 hours a day, 5-6 times a week and he has a suitcase full of supplements, vitamins, minerals that he takes everyday.

The fact of the matter is that few, and I mean only a few guys can achieve that type of body regardless of how much they work out or how many/much supplements they consume.

The OP mentioned he is over 60 years of age, I am 50ish. Unless a person is someone like Tony Horton and has worked out all their life's, not to mention pushing exercise regimes, then even less guys over 50 will achieve that type body.

quote:

bro you keep bringing up muscle mass

Not only that but I mentioned body frame as well. Some are big boned, some have wide shoulders, stout hips...

I will take being at a good 190lbs eating healthy and living a good life with my family any day.

But hey, if you want to be skin and bones, that's your choice.
