We've bred German Shepherds the majority of my life and I have over 10 years experience breeding Rottweilers. I've covered a lot of information over the years on raising better dogs.
Your statement is horse shite.
Very first link on Google from the AKC. But what do they know? I mean you raised German Shepherds and Rotties, so that is a test group of how many dogs and how many babies?
quote:
When you bring home a new baby, what's exciting for you and your spouse can be confusing and even frightening for your dog. Think about it: That little baby seems like a human, but it smells, sounds, and moves like nothing your pet has ever seen before. And suddenly this strange, loud creature is taking up all of his owners' time and attention. Dogs can be eager learners, but they can also exhibit jealousy because they are no longer the center of attention.
quote:
Acclimate your dog to baby smell, including lotion, powder, etc. Once the baby is born, bring an article of the baby's clothing or a baby blanket home so the dog can get used to the infant's scent.

I am going to go with not horse shite on this one.

dogs are like people. most are cool and some suck. if i got judged by my cover, i'd have a hard time getting anywhere too.
i'm guessing pit bulls are like most out there. if you treat them well as a puppy, they will have a decent chance to grow up as good pets. that does not guarantee it, but it doesnt guarantee it in people either

I think it's funny that a bunch of people who have never owned pits, or even been around them, think they are some awful dog that will bite you as soon as they see you.
Nobody is saying a pit will bite you as soon as they see you. What we’re saying, and have stats and facts to back us up, is that Pits have a tendency to become agressive at anytime without provocation even when they have no history of agressive behavior. And their attacks are devestating and oftentimes fatal.
How is it you and LSUGirl cannot see this? I’m sure you love your dog and it’s as sweet as can be. But that does not change the FACT it could at any moment decide to kill you.

That's the cool thing about facts and data. You can read them and gain an understanding to inform a position.
call me up when they say "pit bulls are the worst, and that's a law of science."
"gravity is real, and pits are the only killer breed."
gfy.

Why can't both be true?
It's like being gay. Elements of nature and nurture.

I blame the owners as well. A dog lover wanting to own a pit bull makes as much sense as a cat lover wanting to own a mountain lion.

Any dog can snap and bite/attack. When it happens with pit bulls, the results are often deadly.
Posted on 1/8/18 at 12:48 pm to Darth_Vader
So you’re comparing a pit bull to a mountain lion?

Worst at what? Law of science? What are you talking about? There are numerous studies and statistics that show that pits ARE the worst when it comes to killing people. Whether or not the owners of every single one of those dogs were bad is another discussion, and frankly, shouldn't matter in the end.

Of course. But you are claiming that a mountain of facts is wrong, manipulated, misinterpreted, etc. Remove your tinfoil hat. There's not some crazy conspiracy against pits.

Here are two facts. Both are true.
1) Most pit bulls will never attack a human.
2) Most dog attacks that result in disfigurement or death are caused by pit bulls.
Just because fact 1 is true, don’t be surprised parents don’t want you and your dog around them because of fact 2.

You don’t agree that pit bulls have a history of killing people at random for no apparent reason, even their owners?

Bring an untrained beagle into the woods, chances are he'll pick up a rabbit trail and follow it.
A well bred pointer will point at a bird with little to no training.
A retrieve, well you guessed it.
Pit bulls? Just read the news.

As far as pets go, it’s not that far fetched as a comparison.
