I know some of you baws are personal friends with our new governor. Forward this to him. Seriously. Someone needs to own it, be held accountable & fix it.

One more thing. I think about folks driving in to LSU campus for football games. You would think it would be top priority to make damn sure the main roads like Nicholson, Burbank, Highland, etc would be spotless & well groomed for game day. Ain’t happening

Most of it will be the broken down substrate used in the neglected asphalt pavement, with a mix of bio debris (grass clippings, etc.) and shredded truck tire (which counts as litter but is exacerbated by the lack of pavement maintenance.

Case in point…a few weeks ago at a major intersection in Houma, two pieces of concrete buckled creating a sharp bump and started fracturing.

DOTD comes out and puts barricades and cones to redirect traffic into another lane. Just last weekend, they finally came out and finished breaking the concrete decking and replaced it with asphalt.

Instead of fixing it right away, they waited two to three weeks before coming out and doing what is likely a temporary fix until they replace the concrete decks.

It's cute that you think anyone who works for the state or city has thought about it enough to have any priorities at all.

No federal money for maintenance. Not enough cash that can go to grifters. Too much money in surveys and environmental assessments for ‘new’ projects

Louisiana’s problem starts and ends with the residents.

Residents litter.
Residents accept the litter all along the roadways.
Residents accept the lack of response from the government.

Louisiana's highways don't have a litter problem. They have a leadership problem

They have a lack of parenting problem. Most people that grow up in a two parent household with basic values know NOT to throw trash out the window. One of the few times I remember my daddy hitting me was because I littered when I was around 8. We were stopped at a red light, I threw something out the window and next thing I know I caught a backhand across the chest
and ordered to get out and pick up my trash. Not littering and personal responsibility go hand and hand with each other.

LSP doesn't pull over enough people for speeding on I-12 near the city. I see a semi truck pulled over at noon every day during the work week and it's being inspected by dogs. Make the out of state drivers pay for the city and state roads to get better. TX does this with any out of state/obvious rental car.

I've always supported the liter cameras. But I know they can't be used anymore.

Interesting that you brought this up. I remember that when Kip was mayor at the end of August they’d mow the grass along the interstates and the grass along Nicholson Drive.

They don’t anymore.

Just left Colorado. Everything was so clean and nice. If it wasn’t for family I could retire here.

Yeah, because the street sweeper is going to pick up the couch on 110 or the mattress at the split, or all the trash that blows onto the road from college drive businesses that don't close their dumpster lids, or the 100s of tire shreds that the trucking industry ignores, or the bumper that the wrecker was supposed to take with them during recovery but they just said F it..

Gotcha, sweepers are the answer. For the records I have seen sweepers late night on the elevated sections on occasion.
