If there's one thing this state is good at, it's finishing dead last on "Best States to Live" lists year in & year out.

We are #1!!!

But how the hell do we rank so low in natural environment when there is so much natural diversity here?

Edit: I see why. The entire state got dinged by air quality found on the Wasatch Front. Kinda nit-picky if you ask me.

#2 in Crime and Corrections

kinda call BS on this one, they are unbelievably soft on violent crime. they just had a 10 time violent offender shoot up the interstate after doing a quadruple murder. While that's tuesday in New Orleans, they aren't making good long term choices up there. They're saved by being mostly rural and mostly white. They aren't doing anything right socially or politically.

New Hampshire was legit though. no sales / income tax, little crime, just high property tax which I guess is all you need to keep the trash out.

LA on bottom, not surprised. You can't really fix things here, all you can do is get fed up and leave.

Louisiana being in the shithole category of every rating is basically my Inseption totem. Once that changes, I know i'm in a dream or simulation.

These lists are bought and paid for. They generally coincide with political campaign season so that politicians can use them in their ads to say that they have a plan to bring Louisiana out of last place where “xyz” has is now.

There’s a no such thing as “last place”

Think about it!

This thread will quickly become a circle jerk of posters who moved out of Louisiana and need to let everyone know.

Couldn't believe we ranked so high in education. Who are those other 4 States?

That's weird, LA is 46th overall in education due to being 41st in PK-12, and 49th in higher education. The other 4:

West Virginia is 47th overall in education: due to being 45th in PK-12, and 42nd in higher education
Oklahoma is 48th overall in education: due to being 49th in PK-12, and 35th in higher education
Alaska is 49th overall in education: due to being 47th in PK-12, and 40th in higher education
New Mexico is 50th overall in education: due to being 50th in PK-12, and 24th in higher education

How can Oklahoma & New Mexico be rated so low with higher education being so much higher than the other 3 in the 46-50 range?

Yes because they need to be last to fit the narrative for politicians who want to lower the bar for their false promises to bring us up from last place

In other states, they have similar lists during political season for the same reason
