The project was led by Gloria Moncrief and her team at Moncrief Oil, a Fort Worth, Texas-based company. Utilizing modern drilling technology, the team was able to access resources nearly six miles below the surface, validating long-held theories about the region’s geology.

She's a risk taker. I saw the TV show about her. The company's land man has a good looking wife.

Cant be much deeper than the one Freeport drilled around there in 2014, the Jeanerette Minerals #1, think it was TD'd at around 29k-30k'

They attempted another one for that depth in Lacassine. I was on the MWD/DD crew. I can tell you they never got beyond like 23k'

Directional team on that location is making that easy money

As ex-MWD when you start jarring on BHA, you can kick back and turn on the movies for a few days at least.

I'm ex Baker MWD. That well was probably around 2014 / 2015. I made some easy money on that one. Slow drilling, stuck casing, jarring, all the fun stuff.

How you reckon sliding was at those depths?

I'm pretty sure that's close to where the Dwarves found the Balrog.

I would imagine they ran rotary steerable and not a mud motor. Unless it was a hot-hole maybe.

Was all of this after McMoRan got sued by investors over Davy Jones?

I'm pretty sure it was. It was around 2014/2015. McMoran (FMOG at the time) had a pretty rough couple of years

Crazy thing is, that’s about the length of Jenerette to Adeline.

That’s all. Just five miles. Now look at that distance and zoom out to just south Louisiana.

That’s really not that deep as the map looks.

But five miles is crushing pressure.

Thank you for catching that. I simply copied and pasted the article, and even in the article there’s mention of only deep gas, but they called it an “oil well”.

I edited it to “oil & gas” well in the thread title. Left the article quote as is.

Mud company truck nuts?
Conoco attempted to drill at 30+ off Rue Debillier in the early 90’s and ended up P&A after 18mos. Dad was (DD) and told them they were wasting $$. The PE that was the lead eventually did time in federal lock up after scamming some of Laffys most prominent families on a med device scheme.

I’ve been out awhile but powerdrive/orbit were not great hot hole tools and at 30K+ I imagine it was pretty damn hot down there. Might be something better now though.

Like redstick mentioned though sliding probably wasn’t very effective either
