Hammond is in Tangipahoa and that Parish grew. Besides Hammond is far from being a shite hole.

Summary: Lafayette, Ascension, Livingston, WBR, Desoto, St. Tammany, and St. Bernard parishes were the only places that grew more than 1%.

Did you not see Tangipahoa Parish? It’s pretty long, kind of hard to miss.

Middle of the road taxes with high crime, bad schools, lack of white collar jobs, natural disasters, political corruption.

It shouldn't be a real surprise that people and businesses from other states don't want to move here or that a decent percentage of natives want out.

All 40,000+ population cities in Louisiana declining is white people wanting to move to suburbs to get out of dangerous inner city. Doesn't surprise me that Lafayette is the only large city in LA that experienced growth and is also the only majority white city in Louisiana (bc cajuns) of the all the other 40,000+ people cities in Louisiana that are minority white.

Lafayette is the 3rd largest majority white city in the Deep South. Only Charleston and Huntsville are larger.

Stonewall La is in the middle of Desoto Parish. It is booming. Lots of new neighborhoods and stores being built. Also North Desoto Schools are pretty good as far as public schools go. The high schools athletic programs have also been doing well. It’s only about 10 miles south of Shreveport and has close access to I-49. All these things make it a desirable draw for people wanting to get out of Shreveport but want more of a rural vibe than what they would get in North Bossier.

When looking at the map as a whole, there looks to be a lot of people leaving Louisiana and those who are choosing to stay are looking to leave Baton Rouge and New Orleans metro area.

St. Tammany will wind up being the economic powerhouse of Louisiana in 30 years.

only thing keeping st Mary afloat is the segment that refuse to go anywhere else and don’t want better for themselves/the area. Don’t get me wrong, I love my home but it gets more sad to see the decline everytime I go back

At best it will share co-#1 status with Orleans and Jefferson

The real story will be how the NOLA, BR, and Lafayette areas are 80% of the state’s population in 30 years. There won’t be much anywhere else as Texas siphons off the Shreveport and Lake Charles areas
