Been in Texas since 2001 and I still tell people I’m from Louisiana. My son claims 100% Texan but he was raised here his whole life. I do feel a kind of pride about Texas now for some reason. Guess it’s finally becoming home.

I think if you were born in another state but your parents are Texans you can claim yourself as a Texan. But if you are the first Texan in your family idk.

Most of texas is flat. So it’s a place with hills which automatically makes people love it more. You can buy a house with a nice view or a patch of land and do outdoors shite. It’s hot as hell but everybody just goes to the river or lake, of which there are an abundance. Clear water and you don’t have to look out for gators. Fishing, big bucks, people are nice. It’s not perfect but place for place I can’t imagine any part of Louisiana is better? I get that people from the south are used to everything being super green so this is probably why you don’t “get it”. Texans don’t really care about though as wherever we’re from or grew up likely isn’t that green either.

My fam is from south texas. It would be badass to have a ranch in the hill country instead

My deal with people moving to Tx is that it’s inevitable. It’ll happen. There’s just not enough people coming from states like Mississippi, Alabama, Arkansas and Oklahoma. There’s too many coming from states like California, New York and Florida.

Agree. They all move to NC and Atlanta though it seems like.

My parents met at LSU but lived in Houston (where I was born) for 5 years before moving back.

Don’t consider myself Texan at all

I don’t think the guy who lives in Louisiana gets to dictate who is and isn’t a Texan. If you are not a cowboys fan there’s a good chance your roots in Texas don’t run that deep.

No. I’m a Louisiana boy.

Being “from” Louisiana is awesome. You get to rep all the cool shite, be the life of the party, and not have to actually live there anymore lol.

Now if I lived here for another 20 years and married a Texan and had had Texan children I’d most likely start considering myself a Texan somewhat.

But I still pay more attention to Louisiana news than Texas news and I’ve been here almost a decade.

Beto almost beat Cruz

That was in 2018. Cruz was still fresh off of Trump’s Lyin Ted attacks. Dems pulled out all of the stops with outside fundraising that resulted in Beto pulling in the largest quarter of fundraising in US Senate history.

A mere 2 years later Cornyn won by 10%.
