Lawyers hire people who went to the same school as them or at least the same state a lot of the time.

Because I like you, I wouldn't take it. You don't want to live here. The market is dead. It's not even worth it.

Mississippi is an odd state. If you make $50k a year, you can live like a king, even in Jackson. The problem is there is hardly any money going around.

They have had approximately 25 years to enjoy their poor decisions. Reality starts today.

I didn't know this. It can't be true in Louisiana. The alumni at LSU are far from tight-knit. All firms care about is class ranking, whether you went to Tulane or Southern.

Thanks man. I'm just kidding though, I have a lot of friends in Jackson and always have a good time (somehow), but would never live there for the reasons you mentioned, among others.

I knew some people that had to have been closing in on $200,000 of combined undergrad and law school debt when I was in school.

I went to college and law school on full scholarship (my scholarship was out-of-state for law school too).

And I would change everything if I could go back in time.

Does Pississippi have a Lawyers Assistance Program? You need to talk to somebody dude.

I bitch about being a lawyer but I found a somewhat reasonable alternative. You need to change something.

Has anyone taken a peek at the fail list? It's pretty hilarious. Here's a few:

6 Captain America CA 808
32 Bronco Bronco AA 155
34 Ron Burgundy SS 123
54 Imma Dewdis ID 413
95 Saul Goodman AA 111
240 Nood Undermacklos HA 369
121 Ernie K-doe AB 123

Do people that know they bombed it just change their name before submitting?

Why do I need to talk to somebody?

The Lawyers Assistance Program here is more fit for helping lawyers with drinking and drug problems. I don't drink and I don't do drugs.

Why am I being singled out when this entire thread is full of posts by lawyers saying that the market is a joke and lots of lawyers regret being lawyers?

You pick your name well in advance of taking the bar.

Those Schools you just mentioned are in the same state. They typically don't want someone who went to some law school up in the northeast even if it is more prestigious.

You shouldn't be. Both of those are true to a degree.

Not sure where you are in your career. Let me say this. As you develop and gain experience, you also gain more control over your life. And more control usually yields a lot more happiness.

Even if they're originally from Louisiana? Is someone who grew up down there, but went to law school in the Northeast, and is looking to return home looked down on?

Because I like you. I don't like any of these other assholes. LAP can also help you transition into another gig. It's not just for drunks like me.

You submit an alias that gets posted in case you fail. Mine was something like Seeya Infebruary. Thank God I never did get to see that one posted.

I didn't know that. Maybe I'll look into it. I like you too, brosef.

The alias also serves another purpose. The examiners see only the alias, never your real name.

I love being an attorney. The ones who don't are the ones who treat it like a job.

Being a member of the bar is a lifestyle. It transcends being a normal person with a normal job. You've got a higher calling, and to be happy, you need to accept that.
