Watching TWC earlier and the guy said the cost from this natural/man-made disaster will be up there with Harvey. Can anyone tell me what part of this cold arse weather is "man-made", am I missing something??

Well, it seems like at least my neighborhood if not all of Austin is losing water now.

Thank goodness I have 30 years of hurricane experience!

The boil water advisory from the 2018 floods lasted 6 days. Maybe this one could be longer?

I didnt hear the man made part but it would be surprising to me if this rivaled Harvey and Katrina that flooded what, 100k-200k homes and businesses each?.

Those events were widespread destruction. Although this is more widespread, it seems the destruction is much more spotty. And even people with busted pipes, many times their entire house isn't flooded

Just guessing though.

Ya, that was pollutants/debris suspended in the water from flooding.

This sounds like widespread infrastructure problems. It could definitely last awhile.

The good news is I was surprised in 2018 how easy it was to get bottles of water. With open supply lines it shouldn't be so bad like it is post hurricane.

I'm sure they will find alot more damage once everything thaws out, but I don't see how it would rival Harvey or Katrina damage cost. The thing that threw me off was the man-made part.

I rather lose power when it’s freezing then the humidity after a hurricane.

I can vouch for that. Two plus weeks without electricity after Laura. Had a window unit in the bedroom to sleep. Temperatures in the rest of the house ran 85-86. It felt cooler on the patio if there was any sort of a breeze.

I was out of power for 9 days after Laura. I'd rather go through that again than two days of this shite.

Arguably the negligence of the utilities/government made things much worse the same way the levee failures made Katrina worse.

I’m interested in how long Lake Charles is going to continue telling people “this is happening other places too” and begging people to turn off their faucets.

SFP mentioned this earlier but it’s a true Tragedy of the Commons situation playing out.

If our water is dependent on Jethro listening to the government, we might as well stock up on potable water for the longterm.

Old Bridge

US 190 East is now closed until further notice at LA 1 due to winter weather conditions. Congestion remains minimal. Motorist are advised to use an alternate route.

There was a wreck earlier, guess they found ice

State Line Avenue in Texarkana. Snapshot of a drone video shot yesterday. Arkansas plowed and cleared leaving Texas as is.

I'm seeing these little flying things with wings, too. Haven't seen them in days. Kind of chirpy sound to them.

I was happily surprised to find water pressure at about 5am. The way Austin Water was talking and everyone losing pressure made me think it would be way longer.

I have a shite ton of water stored
