Stick a fork in it.

The great blizzard is giving up.

That's what I figured too and felt like an idiot, but the other two are spinning.

Heat pump system if that matters.

Well heat pumps do use the outside so good luck!

Or do you have two systems but only one is a heat pump?

Gotcha. Ya I hadn't had this type of system before so it's presenting new things for me to learn.

I have 3 separate HVAC units and my breaker box has 6 breakers total for them.

Each unit has AC and Furnace breaker.

Ya, I've been working off my previous knowledge and googling around. I'll have to youtube more to see if I have any hope.

For now I've turned the unit off.

Appreciate the assist.

Well, while inspecting around the house I noticed my condenser fan on one of the units wasn't spinning and just buzzing. Gave it a push and spins freely but didn't keep going.

Matter of time it was old as shite.

I've changed capacitors before but I feel like it's going to be the fan motor.

BTW anyone know why I was still getting heat from that unit. If this were to happen with AC running I would have gotten nothing and noticed the problem sooner.

Or was I in Aux/defrost or something and fine

ummm...your heater doesnt use the condenser unless its a heat pump

eta - i see its a heat pump. i have no information for you

If it is a heat pump it may be in a defrost phase

We have one - despise the darn thing. Switched to Emergency Heat this past weekend - will send my next stimulus check to Discount Energy

They will intentionally frost, not iced, as they draw heat from the outside air. At some point the outside unit 'shuts down' as it is in a defrost phase. The air blowing in the house is warmed by heat strips during the 'defrost cycle'....why it feels warmish

The freeze part of this is increasing. Trees really taking on a costing now. Rain just got heavier-hoping that halts the build up for a bit.

Meteorologist Nick Mikulas
From what I’m seeing, we are now approaching 10000 CLECO customers without power, and 8000 Beauregard Electric customers. These numbers are rising quickly. The temperature at my house is now 31, and should stay around 31-32 this afternoon. Areas to the south may hit 33-34, but in many cases, the damage will already be done. I’m up to about 1/4 inch of ice on the branches I can reach, and it’s probably a bit thicker in the treetops.

Monitor the fan and see what happens

In the defrost phase the fan does not turn on purpose

The unit itself will continue to make noise
