It can help if you are expecting power outages. Any heat that rises will hang around a while. Of course, close it if/when you lose power to conserve heat in the house.

I’d do the same. 71 and 1 are open. Take your time and leave yourself some space when driving

That was really nice of you so no need to feel like a dick

Maybe you should have a block party. Bottle of alcohol and 20 bucks to enter

I have Pex lines. Not worried. Faucets outside are insulated and covered.

Scenario:

in Shreveport with full utilities and everything right now, but Wednesday at the moment is calling for lots of ice

we don't have a fire place or a generator and I have 2 young kids

I'm thinking of driving to my parents place in the morning near Alex as they have a whole home generator, so even if they lose power, we will be good

I have a 4x4 truck and we will travel backroads at 45 mph the entire way, it may take us 4 hours to get there

is this a terrible idea? of if y'all were in my situation, would you do the same?

My brother in law just sent me a video of him driving by the Elerbe exit on 3132 and its was pretty insane looking how much snow is sitting on 3132 at the moment. If you go be very careful and maybe go the old way (I think its 167 maybe? I forget).

Edit: Holy shite @ the Quad, thats not good.

My concern would be the amount of snow and type of winter precip that fell between the Shreveport and Cenla.

That frozen stuff has been compacted all day as a few cars have driven over it. There’s some slushy areas despite the temperature today. All that is going to turn to hard ice tonight.

Snow and even sleet can be navigable, but it might be 100+ miles all ice.
