Latoya looking for some cash flow to pay her taxes. She obviously dont give a shite about the people of New Orleans. If she did she would have cancelled Mardi Gras when the CDC warned the virus was coming in February.

My cousin has an Airbnb he rents out and he needs guests. They should go stay over there. He needs some paying customers.

It can't be the whole state, right? Mostly N.O. area?

Yeah maybe the Navy is just hiding an extra huge arse hospital ship somewhere that nobody knows about
Unfortunately the USN only has 2 and they were sent to NYC and Los Angeles
Fun Fact: The ship is not normally active but it can be activated and fully crewed within 5 days

Bill Cassady, based on personal interaction, is a douche bag

Luckily there are travel nurses
I'm gonna imagine many travel nurses from outside Louisiana seeking assignments are NOT gonna take them in states that are the hotbeds for this virus right now.
Think about it....they can pick where they want to go and exactly what terms. They can go anywhere.

“All these folks with their reports and exclusives need to get on the same page.
One doesn't have to look too hard to spot gross inconsistencies.”
This.
Just saw on the news 1 in 5 youths now make up corona patients. Then say age 24-45 are youths. I guess 45 is a youth now?

If NOLA runs out of bed space, we should just bus the overflow to Memorial Hermann.

Yeah. I see what you’re saying, but there is always someone who will chase the money.
If they offer enough, some will go. I would have at one point in time

For-hire nurses get big bucks to work in NYC during coronavirus outbreak
quote:
Hundreds of nurses are pouring into New York City from across the country drawn by a desire to save lives — and paychecks reaching $100 an hour.
Michael Fazio, the head of the Prime Staffing agency, said he was trying to fill 3,000 nursing slots for New York-Presbyterian, Mount Sinai, NYU Langone and Bellevue, along with hospitals in New Jersey.
quote:
“I spoke to some nurses in the south. Their hourly rate was like $29 an hour. They’re literally saying ‘Man, I gotta do it for my own family.’ One woman said to me, ‘I’ve got a kid going to college. I’m coming!’ “ Fazio said.
To sweeten the offers, Fazio’s agency will send breakfasts and lunches to the nurses, arrange grocery deliveries and provide car services to take them to work. He offers housing stipends or puts the nurses up in hotels.
I also saw this while looking at that article:
Coronavirus in NY: City’s ICU-bed capacity ranks in bottom quarter nationally
quote:
New York City’s ICU capacity shows the city was ill-equipped to handle a deadly outbreak compared to many far-less densely populated areas.
The Big Apple’s intensive-care bed capacity of about 2.7 per 10,000 residents over the age of 15 — 1,800 beds total — ranks No. 220 on a list of 305 US hospital regions studied by The Washington Post and Columbia University Professor Adam Sacarny.
New Orleans, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Baltimore, Nashville, Las Vegas and Detroit all have more ICU beds per capita than New York City.

Doubtful. LA doesn’t pay nurses well compared to other states in general.
Why go to NOLA when you can make $100hr elsewhere. And that is just what the nurse takes home, that isn’t what the hospital is paying the nursing travel agency for the contract.

Fox News and a Republican. 52 downvotes.

Fox News is fake news 90% of the time now.
Other than the primetime nightly lineup, it’s fake news.
But by all means keep being fed by them.

All news is shite. They all have the shock factor Drudge Report headlines now.

They keep saying beds are close to capacity, especially ICU beds. The reason it keeps not hitting capacity is because hospitals are creating more beds. Instead of completing a neuro ICU at UMC, they have made it another 24 bed MICU and doubled their MICU size. Ochsner has already added 34 ICU beds and is working on making 68 more. Children’s has moved their PICU in with the CICU, so there is about 16 ICU beds available for adults there. Some hospitals have opened acute care floors as well to increase regular capacity.
I don’t think there are any tricks in space that the hospitals have left for ICU beds. We have been nearly full, but we have made a lot of new beds.
Last, it depends when they take the numbers. For example, if you have 24 beds and in one day have 2 die and 2 step down. Then at 8am you were at 100% capacity. Around 5pm, when you are still moving bodies and cleaning rooms, then you are only at 83% capacity.
TLDR- I can’t speak for acute beds because those are easy to make, but ICU beds are packed. We have been thinking of ways for more, but we’ve almost executed and exhausted all of our ideas.

The problem is he cannot wait till we are at capacity or over to let everyone know. He has to start demanding help now. Before there is a problem.
