I just saw this video from a Senate Committee Meeting. Family Courts seem out of control. Start watching at 3 hours and 48 minutes: Is anybody going to reform the courts?

This is so terrible. I cannot believe this type of thing is happening in Louisiana.

I think it is Parents freaking out because their children were placed with abusers by Louisiana judges.

I did watch a couple minutes after where you suggested to start and the "Sen. Andrews" scrolling through her phone, completely disinterested, as the crying mother described the situation of her children being sexually assaulted did seem pretty gross.

Have you seen or heard the stories about all the incompetent and corrupt District Court judges?
They preside over trials, rulings, and sentencings that actually make the news. I can only imagine the degenerates that are in charge of low level family courts, and their massive negligence.

I really think there are big problems with many family courts. I think people are being tortured for $$$. I heard someone saying they thought some of these folks entire income comes from giving court ordered evaluations that no one would purchase unless they were coerced.

Honest question, because i have no clue what the context of this hearing is...
Is this an actual family court hearing? Or is this a hearing in front of a statehouse committee about the LA family court system? I assume the latter since there are senators attending.
Either way, the complete disassociation of that lady was disgusting.

I saw this newspaper article.
A former Louisiana Supreme Court justice has publicly warned that Louisiana’s judicial discipline system is failing.
Former Justice Chet Traylor resigned from the Louisiana Judiciary Commission, the body that investigates complaints against judges and recommends discipline to the Louisiana Supreme Court. In his resignation letter, Traylor said he had realized he served “no purpose” as a member and accused the commission of failing to take meaningful action against judges accused of misconduct.
The article reports that Traylor called for greater transparency and accountability, saying complaints against judges often go unaddressed. His resignation comes as Governor Jeff Landry and state lawmakers are pushing for stronger oversight of Louisiana judges.
Under the current system, the Judiciary Commission may investigate complaints and recommend discipline, but only the Louisiana Supreme Court can sanction or remove a judge. Judicial removal is rare, and much of the complaint process remains confidential unless formal proceedings are opened.
The article also discusses proposed legislation that could give elected officials more power to remove judges and district attorneys. Supporters argue that Louisiana needs stronger checks on judicial misconduct, while critics warn that political involvement could threaten judicial independence.
Overall, the article shows that concerns about Louisiana judicial accountability are no longer coming only from litigants or outside critics. A former Supreme Court justice who served inside the disciplinary system is now saying publicly that the process does not adequately hold judges accountable.

It is a senate committee meeting focusing on women's and children's issues in Louisiana. This part of the meeting focuses on children being placed with pedos by judges and no one seems to be able to help them because judges are so powerful I guess. The mother says she took her children to the hospital and never had them again. Then the senator tells the sobbing parents her child is sick and needs to go be with them. I am very concerned about the citizens in our state. The state seems to have so much power but the citizens seem very vulnerable.

Yikes.
There was just a pretty long thread this weekend about a probate judge here in Jefferson County (Bham) who has been removed because she was completely incompetent. Yet it was allowed to go on for a long time with her running the probate court as a lazy tyrant.
The judicial system in the US as a whole needs a severe overhaul.

I honestly think that is pretty common. I think alot of people cannot handle that type of extreme power over other people very well, like people who are mean to wait staff... pair that with no functioning oversight and you have raal problems. I am afraid people are being severely abused by our government honestly. I see things in the papers frequently.
