The federal government today announced $8.2 billion in new funding for passenger rail that does not include the $200 million Louisiana officials were seeking for establishing service between Baton Rouge and New Orleans.
But don’t give up yet, the state is going to spend another 500K to study the situation.

However, the state transportation department will get up to $500,000 to complete a service development plan and federally required environmental study, which could be the next step toward full funding.

Fund transportation initiatives within the United States for under 10 billion? frick no.
Hand out hundreds of billions of dollars to foreign governments for no reason with no strings attached and no oversight? Hell yes!!!!!

So, no one wants to ride a train to Baton Rouge, then walk from the train station in the ultra-walkable city to their destination?

The turnip was in Vegas today touting a high speed rail boondoggle that will connect Cali and Vegas. Never mind that the Cali high speed rail project has gone nowhere despite billions being spent.

So, government officials are going to launder 500k to themselves without anything happening in regards to a rail line.

Why not just use the $500,000 to buy a few greyhound buses and run them back and forth?
