I’ll vote for anyone that supports this.

I'd still like to see you have to be able to take a class and renew your certification every so often.

I'd love to see it happen, but I'm afraid that just like with everything else, the good citizenry will continue to be lumped in with the felonious shite bags by the state.
It's hard for us to have anything nice here because of that. I rather see increased, MUCH harsher punishment for those actually committing violent crimes. But what do I know?

Truth is, the only people conceal carrying right now without a permit are criminals, and they will never bother with getting a permit to conceal carry a gun, EVER, because they’re criminals. The only people who bother at this point are law abiding citizens (potential victims) but their numbers are few, if for no other reason than they don’t want to be put on a data base, and I can’t say I blame them, but without a permit, you’d find a very big deterrent to the criminal element’s behavior knowing good and well the consequences he faces when a significantly larger number of the sheep are now armed.
My man!!!! On fricking point!!

It’s a perfect analogy.... The wolves are the criminal, and the potential victims are sheep.
No, I will not.

Hell, I'll pay a fee to carry a gun. I just don't want the hassle of having to go to class and renew every 4 years or whatever it is.
Don't care much for the govt in my county (Jeff.- birmingham) but cc fees are $7.50 per year, up to 5 years at a time and you can renew by mail if done before expiration. Lowest fees in state, despite largest issue amount (records, bg checks, etc)
Same sort of bill was up in Alabama legislature a few years ago and the counties most vocal in opposition, were the ones that charge the highest fees.

So pick one that doesn't hurt your feelings. His point stands and I stand with him on that point. Criminals (much like the government) will think twice before fricking with someone that has a gun regardless if that person can use it or not. How will they know that? They don't

Used to have a CCL.
Before that I concealed carried for years without one. Went back to doing this a few years ago when I got sick of the CCL renewal hassle.
This law needs to pass. CCL’s are unconstitutional and a pathetic cash grab by the state from law abiding folks.

You’re taking it too personally. I’m not insinuating that you are relying upon the sheep dog, or can’t take care of yourself, but we are sheep in that we are the wolve’s prey, and law abiding citizens are not predators. Criminals are the predators in life, running about seeking who they will prey upon.
If the sheep are armed, then they protect themselves when the sheep dog is on the other hill patrolling the vast area he has to patrol, and the land owner (government) prevents the sheep dog from rounding up all the wolves before they have a chance to kill the sheep, saying it must wait until they kill one of the sheep before going after the wolf, which may help the other sheep but does nothing to help the sheep that died.
But if the sheep kills the wolf when it is being attached and the sheep dog is on the other hill, then the wolf dies, the sheep dog comes to verify, the land owner has one less wolf to worry about, and peace comes upon the land.
The end

Still do not get how it's constitutional for a government body to tax you for the right to practice your 2nd amendment rights. Founders see no difference between open carry or concealed.

Lol there is no way in hell the state police are going to give up that permitting money without a fight.
Don’t think they will stop issuing CHPs. Hell it’s worth it for the reduced hassle when you buy a gun. Plus you still get reciprocity in other states.

Can I get my money back on my CCL?

No shot this goes through.

Perhaps there are people out there that dumb, but shooting someone stealing a basketball out of their front yard does not require them to CC at this point, and there’s no epidemic of people doing anything of the sort.
Fair enough, and perhaps I didn't explain myself well.
I suppose the point is that I personally believe that there should be some type of basic education class before people can conceal carry.
I am not opposed to conceal carry. Actually quite the opposite.
I consider it no different then taking a gun safety course before getting a hunter's license. If not a class, then a test in the same manner that you have to for a driver's license or a CDL.
Is owning a gun a right, of course, but it's also a responsibility. Can someone explain to me your opposition of making sure that people understand the responsibility that comes with CC'ing?

Join the club. I love Mississippi's gun laws.

How the hell did you get this from what I said?
I never once said you shouldn't be able to conceal carry or to own a gun at all. I never even implied it.
Also what does me saying that people should have some type of formal review of rights and responsibilities do with taking a way guns or your families safety?
