Louisiana has not come into compliance, yet, with the REAL ID requirements of the Department of Homeland Security. Unless they pull a rabbit outta their arse, the state has already missed the last deadline of 10-10-17 but its being extended one last time until 1-22-18.
After that, your current drivers license will not get you on a plane or through TSA to get on a plane, to be exact. A passport will.

Most states are "under review" including California. I doubt this amounts to anything.

Well frick I just renewed my license in January of last year and it’s good till 2022. Guess I’ll just use my passport not going give the gubment any more money for a new card.
