And Louisiana is the epitome of the litigation epidemic.
It really fricking is. Scumbags filing suit against a company when they get into a 5mph accident. Go to the hospital. Get a negative MRI but still complain of back pain, get sent to a scummy pain management doctor from scummy personnel injury attorney, personal injury attorney sends 100's of clients to said scummy pain management doctor. Pain management doctor says, oh gee, you're a client of XYZ? OK. Yeah, despite no bulges or herniations, you've got some facet issues, the MRI won't pick that up. We'll do injections and RFI's (at $10k a pop) for the next decade. You're future meds are at $200k, scummy plaintiff's attorney gets their 33%. Said scumbag personal injury lawyer pays scummy pain management doctor and one of the scummy neuro surgeons or orthodos (everyone knows who they are) $15k for an hours testimony (if it goes to trial) for their biased opinion. The jury loves the handsome Nuero or orthodo and believes their bullshite opinion and awards damages for some bullshite case. Scummy persnoal injury attorney repeats the next day client that gets into an accident with a big company or 18 wheeler.
But then again, defense lawyers can call experts too, if they want to go to trial and risk the $200k verdict for a 5mph accident. So, companies end up settling the bullshite claim because they don't want to risk a crazy jury verdict, plaintiff's attorney makes some money, client makes some money, and our insurance premiums go up.
It's the defense bars fault though for some reason...

We've spotted the defense counsel.
Glad you haven't let the other side get to you.

Good. Chuck wouldn't be happy. You should thank the plaintiffs bar for the job. You wouldn't have one if they didn't exist.

If you just passed and go into major litigation with a good firm, be prepared and comfortable with the fact that you don't know shite about practicing law. The next 2-3 years will have a steep learning curve and you will feel like you are floundering. Then, one day you will hear yourself explaining things on a phone call or in court and and realize that you know what you're doing, sort of, and making the right decisions. Eventually you are training new associates who actually come to your dumb arse for professional guidance. Just be humble, take good advice, and most importantly IDENTIFY YOUR WEAKNESSES.

I find it so strange how everyone seems to accept that Louisiana is super plaintiff-friendly. The people who say this must never have practiced anywhere else - maybe it's plaintiff friendly compared to Mississippi. Or maybe it's unique to personal injury. But I've got cases that would be six-figures in California or New York and are maybe worth 1/10 as much here.

Edged out? If you mean all takers were 30% lower than any other LA school then they were "edged" out.
