Because she lives in Los Angeles. Chances are, she's on the more liberal side of things. Can't say that for certain, but living in LA, SF, or NY, and your chances of being a liberal increase pretty dramatically.

What? Who is doing this?
The man is not mentally unstable, he’s mentally ill. He deserves to face consequences for this, but consequences mean jack shite in the long run compared to treatment.
You’re confusing excuses for explanations.

I also am not so partisan as to think that Republicans have the answer. It will likely require a complex answer that falls somewhere on a spectrum between the two extremes. What Upgrayedd outlined above, assuming it is true, is clearly not the answer and those people are beginning to have to lie in the bed they made for themselves. But simply putting laws on the books that outlaw certain behaviors that are common to those people likely won't fix the problem either. It will move them to places where such laws do not exist, but we need to treat the cause of it all. (Or just say frick it and let California deal with it).

I’d wager that most homeless have no idea about the various laws and policies that these places have. A few squatters here and there, maybe, but I’d wager that most of them are in places like California because the weather is nice and the disposable income for charity exists.
