My company has plans to work on a few new chick fil-a projects opening up in the southeast. All of the different plans call for 2 drive thrus and 2 outside metal cashier spaces with AC and tinted glass with electricity, etc

Good.

I’ve been in line recently at Chik Fil A behind 10 or more cars and still had my food and was out in less than 10 minutes.

Compare to a place like Popeyes where you can be the only car in line and it still takes longer for you to get the incorrect order

I’ve never been like, “Lets go down to the Taco Bell and eat inside”.

I feel like eating inside of FF places has been way in the decline for years.

based on what? I only go to CFA, five guys, shake shack, or a few local places, but whenever I take one of the kids to get ice cream or have lunch there it's always hard to even find a table at cfa. That's both in South Florida and on vacation.

CFA is one of the few places that still has a play area for kids. My kids love(d) going to CFA for that reason.

Also fast food places on interstate corridors are busy with travelers, often with kids.

Chicken Filet is decent. It's not great. It's not worth sitting in a drive through for 20 minutes. frick all that.

They have one of the slowest order times in the industry despite having a pretty limited menu. The idea that they're so efficient is a myth that many believe though

I’ve read that same study and from personal experience I question the accuracy. If my choice is 10th in line there or 3rd in another chains line, I’ll take Chick-fil-A every time.

BTW, our local CFA opened its dining room this week. One 10 miles south opened theirs 3 weeks ago.

They had people taking orders outside before covid. Glad they’re giving them a place to catch some AC now.

They didn’t invent it either. When I worked at the Wendys on Causeway, back in the 70’s, we use to send order takers out to speed up the drive through.

For comparison sake, sometime when you're driving in northeast Tennessee (northeast of Knoxville), try a Pal's.

It's hamburgers and hotdogs, drive through only, in the most basic of buildings.

And their menu is basic menu

And they are staying away from the chicken wars. But you can get really good chillibun there (a very regional item.)

I haven’t gone there since the pandemic. I always avoided the ten deep car lines walking inside. I’d have no wait. When are they going to reopen inside?
