Looks like the COVID chick fil a format is here to stay forever

My company has plans to work on a few new chick fil-a projects opening up in the southeast. All of the different plans call for 2 drive thrus and 2 outside metal cashier spaces with AC and tinted glass with electricity, etc.
Now, if these permanent cashier spaces weren't meant to be very long term, they would not be included in the plans for new constructed buildings.
I really didn’t think much about it after looking at the plans but one the way home from the kid’s spring break we drove thru a brand new chick fil a and actually saw the exact plan
In addition, the inside was closed with no tables and take out only
The plans for the new ones basically had very tiny dining room areas
The new norm is here. Welcome to Post COVID!

They probably realized that their drive thrus are the most efficient thing ever invented so they might as well keep it going

Does the plan include a shoe shine stand?

Hey I have no problem with it. They are in business to make money. Kudos to them for finding something even more successful than what they had before
My only thing is that people will soon get tired of having to eat their lunch from their car or taking it back to their desk to eat.

If I’m being honest, if they only kept bathrooms open and only did drive thru I wouldn’t care

Chick Fil A is the most efficient company in existence. They realize the value of a fast, speedy drive thru experience.

I wouldn’t call it because of COVID... Pre COVID chick fil a had the best drive through efficiency of any fast food chain. They are merely investing more into it to make it better for their employees.

They had people taking orders outside before covid. Glad they’re giving them a place to catch some AC now.

I mean..... the numbers probably show that by adding that outside position they can push an increased volume of vehicles than if they didn’t have that position.....
It ain’t rocket science

That I don’t remember. And I surely don’t remember them having the dining room closed

Chick fil a down here has the dining room open

College drive location has had 2 drive thru lines since it was built 5 or so years ago. They would have someone outside taking orders for at least the last 2-3 years

The real format is going to be larger ghost kitchens that can cook for multiple restaurants and deliver through doordash and Uber eats.
Think of a place that has the ingredients to cook for KFC, taco bell, and Pizza Hut all at the same time (just to use a yum brands example).

2 of the 3 locations by my house had the cashiers walking down the drive thru line pre-COVID. They all have the 2 lines.

Yeah, they'll push the app for pickup and Doordash/Waitr options and never have to clean up after kids. Can probably run the same stores with fewer folks and serve more meals per day.

I really can’t see you being anymore important than a cashier.
Are you worried about losing your job to a touch screen?
