Right.
He read the subject of the thread and commented right away without reading any of the actual posts by the OP.

Was fun, turned out real nice considering the rain earlier in the day.
I know he hasn't fooled with cards in a LONG time, but you know how he likes The Mick. Wouldn't hurt to ask.

Do you found out he is Burt Reynolds?
Posted on 9/15/16 at 11:05 pm to CaptainsWafer
Oh, so it's already known?

No doubt. OP and terd have some sweet cards/collections apparently.

This is some cool stuff. These cards are legit pieces of history.
Maybe this is an inappropriate question, but is this a really expensive hobby for y'all? Or are y'all able to find deals or have inherited these cards?

The cool thing is that some of the buildings that these factories were in are still standing in NOLA. I nerded out one day and started digging through old Sanborn maps and found them.
The old Liggett & Myers tobacco factory is now a law office and I think there's an embassy in it. It's on Magazine... big white building.

The bulk of my collection is from when I was single and in the military. I got drunk and collected cards. I don't really buy much anymore but I do trade some. And there are deals if you know where to go and the timing is right.

I collected mine from around 1992-2005. Had to stop once kids were older. Got odd jobs to help my habit.

And prices have gone up a lot since then. One thing I've noticed is that real vintage baseball cards don't ever really go down... just keeps going up.

Thats cool.
Those types of cards should appeal to a wider audience than just your average baseball card collector since it covers more than one area of interest, a few different ones actually in this case, which more people interested usually means more $$$.
I like when I catch a thread like this on here. Interesting stuff, fah sho.

There are a lot of old guys with lots of money out there that buy up the really high dollar stuff and hold onto them.
I know Keith Olberman has a nice collection and I think it's the owner of the Diamondbacks that has an insane collection worth millions.
Ken Kendricks (owner of Dbacks): LINK

When i get a chance, I will send you some pics of the Wagner and Plank cards from the set of T213 I have.
Posted on 9/15/16 at 11:27 pm to shoelessjoe
Honus Wagner and Plank didn't make it into the T213 set. They were both in the T206 set but I doubt you mean those.

Damn.
The quality of the Wagner and SJJ Cracker Jack cards is nuts.
For something that old to be in such good condition is amazing to me.
Kinda like how LCA is able to post on here. (I know he will joxy this.) LCA

Would have to check. I have both but maybe from a different set. Looking at the cards you have, those resembled the plank and wagner I have.
