I have always dreamt of becoming a pilot, but the means to get the money for my private, multi, and instrument ratings are typically $45,000 - $75,000. I have gotten denied from loans because im only 26 and my credit isn't strong enough to borrow such a large sum. I have an undergraduate degree already so I know about school programs that offer some sort of flight training and I missed that boat.

Anyone (hopefully pilots) have any recommendation on how I can get my pilots license? thanks OT

Nb4 join air force or any military. I don't know how difficult it is to get into their flight programs in the military

I've heard that companies will sponsor the cost of training if they have strong enough demand.

My dream has always to become a commercial airline pilot. The costs have always made that dream unrealistic

American Airlines has started an ab initio program thought offers low interest loans, and in some cases, scholarships, although they don't guarantee a position with American Eagle after getting qualified, that's sort of the intent of the program, at 26, if you have a college degree and good health, you might consider the Air Guard

Its near impossible to become a fighter jet pilot

You do realize the military has many different types of aircraft right? Not every pilot is a "fighter jet pilot".

I do believe there are other military flying opportunities than fighter jet. They have an entire transpertation wing. You can fly cargo, etc.

I was just looking into their Cadet Academy and I will submit an application tonight. I do have a College degree and good health and passed my FAA Medical exam.

Yeah... but they still think they're "fighter jet pilots". I flew on a military 737 out of Europe once and that mfer thought he was in an F-18.

Dude flying a c-10 or something is way more applicable than flying an f-22 if you wanna be an airline pilot one day.

Find a university with an aviation program and pay for it with student loans.

ETA: Even with all the necessary hours, the airlines mostly hire pilots with a college degree.
