No travel ball = no HS ball = no college ball = no pro ball.
You are leaving out 1 important factor:
Travel Ball Moms ??

I don't believe in attempting to attain unrealistic goals. I would rather my kids focus on academics, rather than athletics. Academics will benefit a much greater percentage of the population.
I agree with this but if they are A students already then why not let them take baseball as far as they want/can? He's a pretty grounded kid. Medical school is his goal, but he loves baseball.

They are and they are basing their beliefs on maybe 5% of the population of kids playing TB.
Of the 11 kids on my team,
1 plays football, runs track, and wrestles
1 plays football and wrestles
2 play football and basketball
1 plays basketball and does strength and agility
1 plays in 2 basketball leagues
2 play football
1 is going to play football
1 plays rec basketball
1 is baseball only
But, I encourage them to participate in other sports. Some coaches want baseball only and that gives them more success now. In the long run kids need variety to keep from burning out

If a kid gets into baseball and loves it and wants to continue playing as he gets older it's the natural next step. Why not let them have goals?
9 times out of 10 it's goals of the parent, not the kid.

What was funny about that?
labeling for daddy's vicariously living through kids, kind of like a size zero for women, wtf is a size zero? you're invisible, not there?

Is that your opinion? Where are you getting that number? That's certainly a biased remark. Yall have a screwed up idea of select baseball parents. Granted, there are some that fit the going description on here, but the majority do not.

What % are those offers?
1 is @ 50
The Other 2 offers came last weekend and we're in the process of setting up unofficials.

Over the past 4-5 years of travel ball and showcase ball I have learned this much.
College recruiters prefer dual sport athletes because recruiters can get a better gauge on a recruits athleticism, leadership skills and work ethic.
I strongly recommend parents encourage their child to play 2 sports, if possible while in HS.

My advice on younger kids playing Travel Ball and things parents need to consider before joining a team.
Are the coaches knowledgeable of the game or are they Trophy Chasers?
If they have no experience beyond HS, stay away.
Are practices organized and efficient?
If a lot of kids are standing around, that is not good at all.
Are coaches teaching proper mechanics and footwork? What about warming up arms?
If a coach tells you to go throw to warm up, stay away. Kids need to properly stretch for 15 minutes before they start throwing to warm up.
Is the coach a screamer? If so, avoid the team.
A good coach will correct a player in between innings by talking to them and asking the kid his thoughts.
Travel Ball is for player development, not trophy chasing.
Just a few things to look for.

Not baseball but surely relevant.... I love when we play against teams that have coaches who go on and on about how good they were, played past high school, d1, whatever.....
They waste half their practices reliving their glory days and boring the kids to death.
It's about how well you can explain things to a kid. Just because you can do it doesn't mean you can explain it. My 2 cents.

And we love playing against teams who's coaches can explain how to do things but can't show the players how to properly do it or handle it.
As an example, It's not often you'll see a coach teach proper arm care/recovery work after pitching in a game.

You should of had him in travel T-ball at 4. Some of those NOLA teams start at 2 or 3.
At 5-6, we did travel coaches pitch. By 7 it's kinda late to try to break into travel ball but he'll be a good right fielder reliever and a damn fine bat boy. For the high school team.
I say do it. The worst thing though is the baseball moms are nowhere near as hot as the soccer moms. So there's that.

Wait until he is between 11-13 for travel. There are competitive leagues that play on off days of rec leagues. Usually organized at one local park.
