I had a buddy who had done several of them. He basically removed the hard drive, hooked it up to a computer, flashed the BIOS, and reloaded the software on a bigger harddrive with more room. Even had a program on it that I was able to rent games, rip them to the hard drive and return the game. it was pretty sweet, im sure with some digging around on the internet you can do it yourself.

Buy a usb remote control and download an emulator...You can get all the games easy...Play on your tv and it never craps out like a console...works perfect

A couple years ago, I bought an emulator at GameStop or one such store that accepts SNES, nes, and genesis games. Not exactly what you're looking for, but it works.
