My buddy lived across the street and called me to tell me it was on fire. Sucks.

It happened while the Tigers were getting their asses kicked by Penn State.

Their Catfish Acadienne lunch special was one of the great secret treasures of BR

I know a lot of people loved that place. I never really hung out there; I think was there twice. But, I was sad to see it go. You had to drive from campus so that's why I didn't go there much.

Did they ever prove it was an inside job?

If anyone torched the place it would have been the building owners and not the Caterie people. They were leading that space and the building owner had been wanting to renovate to bring in higher dollar tenants. The Claitors owned the building back then and I think they still do.

Well didn't the owners also own Fairway View Restaurant? If I'm not mistaken, that one burned too. Just saying.

Drank my first legal beer in the Caterie in 1979, and drank many, many, many more in there until her untimely death.

Yep, the Caterie and Southdowns lounge both got squeezed out by being out of lease during unexpected events.
The property owners got what they wanted in the end.

The caterie will always be my favorite spot in BR. 1/2 off apps on Friday. Good food, good vibes.
Good friend of mine was with BRFD and fought that fire. He always said that was the worst and longest fire he ever had to fight.
