What about this size thing?
My carry bag is like 3/4" over the width allowance but within the overall size allowance easily, and that's only if I poof it out like a ballon. Are they assholes about that or can I get by with it as long as I can stuff it in the size box thing easily?

Like I said earlier, I'd take the reigns on that big bastard if they'd let me. I'm pumped about the actual plane ride. It's the airport/TSA that's got me nervous. I've never seen the insde of an airport.

They don't care as long as it's close. Don't worry about measuring it. If the gate agent thinks it won't fit, they will check your bag for you on the spot.

What airline are you flying on? Is it out of New Orleans?

Have somebody drop you off at the airport.
If Nola and you're parking there, don't park in the long term or short term lots. Go with park n fly or something similar there. Check your bags at the front and pack lightly with your carry on bag. A booksack should be good enough.
