I'd fly the plane if they'd let me. I just don't want to deal with this airport shite.
I have zero guidance. This packing thing is a full blown shot in the dark on my part.
If I miss my flight I'm quitting my job and going back to pulling wrenches.

I was in the military and was dropped out of helicopters onto ships and I remember one time facing backwards in a small arse military plane and landing on aircraft carrier so flying commercial ain't nothing. I could have used the alcohol then.

It amazes me how much I choose to fly, even though I hate it. If I have a good book, the fear is still better than driving 12 hrs home.

You have nothing to worry about.
Just know that you can't have any liquids over 3oz in your carryon. You need to put them all in a ziplock bag too.
The only thing you have to take out of your carryon to go through security is your laptop and liquids or gels. Throw them in one of the little plastic bins on the conveyor.
Remove your shoes, belt, watch, and everything from your pockets.
