I'm 2 hours into a trampoline in the dark. Once you get moving fast enough, and use enough profanity, you forget it's even cold.

ETA: I'm manning the smoker on an overnight brisket cook, so I'm up for the long haul.

Pro tip.

Build it at a neighbors house in the light and warmer weather and just carry it to your yard in the dark and cold.

Second protip: if you think it'll take two hours give yourself five.

Waiting patiently for my oldest to go to sleep so I can put the presents out and go to sleep myself. He’s carrying on and testing my patience tonight.

Had a vanity and Disney Princess Barbie castle I knocked out at my parents this morning. Thankfully I did it early…The castle had 1 mil pieces to snap together

Fences. Fences everywhere. I did pre-build the parts that I could in my workshop last week though. This was the best I could do.....it's worth it though.

That's funny. I usually just get Engrish and shitty hardware. I learned on all those flatbox builds to just use lots of wood glue and never plan on disassembly. Much sturdier that way.

Huffy 18 inch bike. Yeah it’s Chinese claptrap but I’ve assembled 10 of these similar bikes in 10 years for 3 kids and consider myself an expert savant. Not this time as this one was the biggest pita. Some cheap plastic collars, plastic threaded inserts, and spring pins to install the handlebars. Whatever happened to a steel shaft and using a wrench to tighten it up? First time I’ve gotten one of these things that didn’t require tools of any kind to assemble the entire bike and look where it’s gotten me. What’s taken me 10 minutes before took me 45 and I was sweating.

ETA even the pedals were self deployed, folding out and clicking into place. I’ll be surprised if this thing makes it to next Christmas.

I also had a vanity but no castle, just a pink tent.

The instructions for the tent sucked arse.

I think this was the first wooden toy that didn’t have cam locks.

I fricking hate those things.

The second year in a row when I didn’t have to put anything together. Kids are finally growing out of those, now I get to watch a movie and watch for the kids who don’t want to go to sleep while the wife wraps the presents. Sure wish we didn’t wrap Santa gifts
