Are they simply protesting gun violence or police violence?
If just gun viloence, I'm not sure picking one of the most gun strict cities is the one to choose to protest.
However, if they are choosing to bring awareness to the fact that their city is doing a lot of killing, I am OK with it.
The violence really needs to stop. Even black on black. This is fricking America, not a middle eastern or Latin American shite hole. Our country deserves to have safe streets.
I envy Japan for this main reason.

I will never understand blocking traffic as a protest. It literally makes me want to disagree with them. It could be the "People against violence committed on baby seals" and I'd want to buy a cricket bat.

In all honesty, their protest approach is fricking asinine.
If they want to stop the violence, they should protest in the neighborhoods where the violence happens and cooperate with police to get known criminals, gang members, murderers, and drug dealers off of their streets and out of their neighborhoods.
The “snitches get stitches” mentality perpetuates the shitty situation.
Those who live in those neighborhoods where violence is rampant and refuse to testify or give up the names of criminals are the ones who shoulder much of the blame.
Scruffy has no pity for them.
ETA: People should watch the Gangland episode on the Gotti Boys our of NOLA to get a view of how absolutely destructive the stance of not cooperating with police is. Murderers walking free because no one would testify. Crime without any punishment. It is anarchy.

I mentioned "even black on black", since most around here will shrug this off and say it's someone else's problem.
I disagree. Any violence is viloence against America.
Maybe I'm a dreamer, but I honestly think if "Black on black crime" ceases, everyone will have better lives.
The trust for other races would improve and racial tensions will reduce.
