In what way, the most harrowing episode in this last year was SO VERY illustrative of American society, that it was horrible and sad beyond words. It encapsulated the whole idea of "racist" police vs. the "Community."
A suspect goes on a high-speed chase through Columbia, South Carolina, flips his car, and gets out with his baby in one hand trying to beat up Deputy Chris Mastrianni with the other hand. THEN crying "My Baby, My Baby" when Mastrianni's help arrives and they subdue the suspect.
All the while, NO ONE will help Mastrianni, instead all videoing the struggle on their phones.
Many would argue this is PRECISELY WHY we need shows like LivePD and what is wrong with society. The value of the child's life was absolutely nil to this guy. The law, and the deputy's life were of no value, either. NOW, I'm NOT saying that all LEOs are idealistic, altruistic do-gooders, but so many are. And they get blamed for racism, and are endangered, as in this case. Worst part, in subsequent news reports, the baby's mother defended the suspect.
