I apologize to you for making you feel that way. In my ignorance, i would actually read your posts and then decide whether to up vote or downvote.
Sometimes I would even take your side when you were being slammed for how you are or someone was meing mean towards you.
So i apologize there Nurse, I'll try to be more like you in the future and downvote people regardless of what they say.

It's fine to give her stuff but tell the truth about it. If it's something that had nothing to do with him then say "this is something special to me and here's the story behind it" yadda yadda.

Update:
I had the ring appraised so I could sell it and send the daughter money to buy a thick chain and more solid lock and such.
I had thought it to be a london blue topaz. It turns out to be an Alexandrite which is a rarer, prettier stone and worth more.
That means I can put more $$ towards my "Christmas Club" where i buy gifts at Christmas for people I know who need it.
My Christmas Club" started out on a white lie. My lil sis died right before Christmas and I could not stand the thought that her only nephew/godchild that she adored would be at xmas without her.
My late sis could not have kids so this baby was the world to her. So i contacted our lil sis and asked her if i could give her son a whole bunch of LEGO sets to put under the tree from our late sis.
She agreed and my nephew had an all out huge Christmas to remember with all of the awesome things from my late sis. he cherishes those LEGOs.
These are the things that make me happy.

There is lie in my wife's family that a relative was a saint, when in fact he ran around on his wife with multiple women. The majority of the family doesn't know, I don't know why someone felt compelled to tell me.
