Literally just had someone try to break into my house

So I am doing an extensive remodel on a storm-damaged house we bought. It was damaged but the guest house was not so we are living in the guest house while I remodel the main house.
Ever since the storms houses that are obviously under remodel have been broken into a ton in LC. I had 3 different job sites broken into last year but no one was living in them obviously. You can tell my house is vacant since there are no blinds on the windows but I didn't think it was an issue since we are next door and our vehicles are here.
While sitting and watching TV my phone goes off for motion detection next door so I check it thinking it was a cat that the camera picks up from time to time. Nope. It was obviously cracked out wanna-be thief. I opened the guest house door to run him off (not smart I know) but didn't see him anywhere so I shut it and ran upstairs to grab my pistol and called the police. They came here within 5 minutes and checked the house but it was all clear.
We live just outside the city limits in South LC where this stuff doesn't happen. Has my nerves rattled a bit and adrenaline running so I doubt I can sleep much now.
Anyway, here is the video. Ignore the mess on the patio as it's a construction site and the mower I recently bought for a family member but haven't had time to bring to them. He seems to be checking the mower out at one point. Guess I need to get it off of there soon before they come back for it.

Tweekers, man. They'll take anything not nailed down.

Nothing worse than a scumbag thief.

I hope you gave the m’fer a shirt

Or a belt, looked like he was about to lose his britches

He clearly did not think this through. Who goes anywhere without a shirt?

I have some expensive tools next door because I have been doing a lot of custom woodwork throughout the whole house and am milling my own trim. I just got a nice new jointer that I will be pissed if it goes missing.

it's obvious that ol baw was just going for a jog. and like a good neighbor, just checking in on your house making sure the copper was still in place.

You're right. I didn't think of that.
This is the only downside of being on a corner lot I guess is that my house is easy access but our subdivision has 1 acre lots and behind me is a horse pasture. The way I have my cameras set up he should have been caught sooner.
Tomorrow I have to look around and maybe move some cameras because I have no idea how only one camera caught him. I have 7 around the house and 2 on the guest house.

Nothing like racking a shotgun to get someone's attention.

That guy doesn't own a vehicle and not carrying anything heavy. I wouldn't worry about him carrying off anything that doesn't roll.

that is insane. No shirt. arse crack. did he even try to jiggle a door? or did he see lights on and get spooked?
now imagine you had a gated drive and BLM busted through the gate and demanded your home because they want day fair share
now imagine you using a 9mm or larger gun to protect said home, and they jailed you for protecting your home.

I noticed you didn’t give a description of the perp in you thread.

My shotguns are in my brother's gun safe since we are limited on space in this guest house. I literally only have one pistol and my bullpup Tavor X95
