I took Zoloft for awhile and it never really worked for me. Honestly, of all the anti-depressants I've tried (diagnosed with depression and generalized anxiety disorder in my early teens, I'm now 31...so a lot), Prozac has worked the best. I know it's such a cliche', but there's a reason why it's the poster child for anti-depressants...that shite works.

People swear by Xanax to manage their anxiety/panic attacks, but I much prefer Klonopin. It calms me down without making me groggy or disoriented. The Prozac helps with the anxiety, too...another reason I like it best.

I took Celexa for a brief period during my divorce. It seemed to work pretty well or either I just learned to not GAF that my ex wife was a slut.

Brintellix. It's only been around a few years. I have been off and on so many others SSRIs over the years (Paxil, Zoloft, Lexapro) and also Wellbutrin, but with horrible side effects. I didn't find any help until I went to a psychiatrist and he recommended Brintellix. I take it for anxiety and depression and it has been a tremendous help.

It's not an SSRI and doesn't have any of the nasty side effects, plus it is incredibly effective in my experience. I've also since recommended to a family member who hadn't had success with other drugs and she also has had success with this.

The only down side is it's pretty expensive even with insurance subsidies. With my blue cross plan I pay $50 a month even after a $30 discount card from my doctor.

Yea, I have an as needed script of Klonopin And i can definitely tolerate it better than xanax. Its just the fact that long term or everyday use for Benzos arent good for you. Eventually the dependency can cause seizures etc if you dont take/have them.

Not too hard, just too shitty. In case you haven't been paying attention, life sucks and it's only getting worse. Pills and other things make it less shitty for awhile.

It ain't gonna cure your problem. Pills will just hide the symptoms while the problem gets worse since you won't confront it like a man.

you think therapy is only for crazy people? Some of the most successful people in the world see therapist. You clearly can't manage your life right now. I'm completely got rid of my anxiety through behavioral cognitive therapy, with the exception of maybe a panic attack a year. No meds and its a long term solution.

Please consider this before you take drugs that could permanently alter your brain chemistry. Most GP's aren't fully qualified to determine if you need these powerful meds after 5 min of questions.

The problem isn't the pill. Your brain didn't change, your environment did.

Psychiatrists don't really do therapy.

I used to use Lexapro. Honestly, I wasn't a fan. It was great at first, but I stopped seeing patterns and such.

Now I just workout and do a ton of cardio, and that really helps my depression/anxiety.

Lexapro has been great for me. No side effects at all. You just have to give it a week or two before it starts to work right after it builds up in your system. And don't quit it cold turkey. You'll have a bad time.

I second this. The first time I quit cold turkey was not something I'd want to wish on anyone.
