CNN hasn't been a journalistic news agency in over a decade. They're the same thing as TMZ.

You can be mad that actual journalism has died in this country, but you can't be mad at CNN. It's like getting mad at a retarded child. They can't help it. They're retarded.

I'm just aggravated with the news in general. Just looked at local news websites here in PHX. National news section has a story about the super lice in the U.S....but no flood stories.

You can at least click on a photo slideshow showing flood damage so at least there is that.

Let's breakdown the inaccuracies in her statement:
quote:

this is such a bad arse amount of rain that it only happens every 1000 years. Yes. One thousand years.

, that is not what a 1000-year flood means.
quote:

It did not discriminate between the good side of town, or the bad side of town.

In a letter trying to defend BR from the media that painted it as a town rife with racism, this kind of stuff does you no favors.
quote:

4) You can buy maximum value flood insurance, and it will not - repeat not - cover the cost of the average price of a home in East Baton Rouge Parish.

The median home price in EBR Parish is $151k. Subsidized flood insurance goes up to $250k and you can by private insurance above that.
quote:

There are uninsured houses right now, that are in a place that some beancounter in an insurance company did not think it would flood. Maybe someone could check out what the hell is going on with flood insurance.

, how is this anyone's fault except the person who opted to not purchase the insurance? If the insurance company was wrong about the risk, that is a good thing for the consumer. You got the low risk rates but still needed the coverage.

ETA: It gets better (worse?).
quote:

The First, by way of example: Remember the Tsunami that happened in Thailand? A bunch of people on expensive vacations got mowed down by an unpredictable, unforeseeable weather event. Not once did I hear anyone ask: why would you go on vacation where there could be a Tsunami? Nope. All the people I know were too busy praying novenas and donating money to go to some country they may never see to stop and ask such a thing.

Seriously, what the frick is this? The deadliest natural disaster in 40 years and this bitch talks about vacation homes and compares it to the BR floods???

What an embarrassment.

Not reading all of that but the drunk swimmers are getting more attention. Hard to understand how this is not getting more news time. We are a People magazine society, sadly.

When the tornadoes came through Alabama in '11, the national media cared for about five minutes but talked endlessly about Joplin.

Agencies were setting up Redcross donations for Joplin using pictures of destruction from Tuscaloosa.

Why do you think that happened?

This is referring to the 2005 tsunami that killed about 200,000 people?? Bold comparison.

If she's talking about another one, that was an unwise location to chose because of the potential confusion. If she's talking about the 2004 Christmas tsunami that killed over 200k, discussing water in vacation homes is fricking imbecilic.

They go there after every terrorist attack, mass shooting, and when they suggested that a missing Boeing 777 may have flown into a black hole.

If I recall correctly, Nashville got very little media coverage from their flood in 2010. Now, I don't believe it was that close to the same scale as the Louisiana flooding. I believe the flooding in Nashville took the back page to the BP oil spills in the Gulf of Mexico.

I also believe the Great Mississippi flood of 2011 also garnered little attention from the media as well. I'm not really sure why...

This flood is obviously taking the backseat to the Summer Olympic games. Maybe the media is apathetic after just visiting Baton Rouge? Maybe the media is ignorant in that they'd just assume this is a "ramped-up" common occurrence in Louisiana? The President and the Presidential candidates (I applaud you Trump) have zero excuse not to be pushing their support and attention on the floods. They are massive in scale and they should direct some of the country's attention and focus on them. People are hurting and are in dire need of help.
