Let's vote on plagiarism punishment

Student plagiarizes paper. Denies it emphatically and swears I am wrong and that I must believe him. I prove he's a liar after 4 emails swearing it is his work. No more emails.
Just 0 the assignment or harsher penalty for lying about it?

When I was in law school our honor board had a girl plagiarize an academic paper. They intended to let her take a hit and give her a road to recover. She blatantly and repeatedly lied and concocted ridiculous shite to excuse her cheating and lying.
They absolutely crushed her and pretty much ruined her future in law.

Happened earlier this semester to a kid in my class. What's shitty is its a really respectable graduate program and we're kind of held to a higher standard. He didn't deny it or anything. Lost his scholarship. F in course and ultimately out the program because an F in this gets you booted. Hell two C's get you booted.

If he was smart, he would have dusted off some old encyclopedias and plagiarized from there.
