I like tool watches, and I think it emphasizes the hardiness of them. NATO bands fit diver and military watches.

Metal bands do not like dirt, sand, and grit. I have worn link pins completely through in 2 years on a steel band. If you break a springbar on a metal band the watch comes off your wrist. On a NATO you would have to break both spring bars to lose the watch head.

Plus they just look good.

I lost a watch tubing because the nato band broke. And I had to change it several times because it stank before it went to the bottom of belle river.

To each his own. I can't see myself wearing anything other than metal except for leather on a purely dress watch.

I cannot imagine a NATO band "breaking". That band in my picture is 14 years old and it would still support my body weight.

But then again I did run across a Chinese made ratchet strap that I could tear like paper. It had been exposed to UV light for about 9 months.
A quality made NATO is pretty much indestructible.

The next time someone starts a thread that's been run before you should post a picture of that watch.

Well I'm sure the buckle probably broke. Either way, I was minus one cheap timex that I really liked

Since going metal I don't think I could go back. It doesn't stink. I can't handle the stink.

None of my NATOs stink. You can always wash them

This. An old tooth brush and some soap will clean that band up for a while. When it starts fading, buy a new band.

Why is it all white wrists?

Black wrists matter too!

I just put mine in a sock and throw it in the wash with the rest of my clothes and then let it air dry. It smells fine.

My watch isn't several thousand (only several hundred), but I wear a Zulu because it's the most comfortable to me, especially if I'm at work typing at my desk most of the day. I do also wear my bracelet and a ostrich skin strap at times.

Thread's alive? It's about uniqueness, style...sure you could wear a bracelet everyday, but you could also wear leather or nylon...the people who don't change it up are suspect IMO.

To each his own. I have a couple of leather straps but I prefer metal.

Some of the NATO bands look cool enough, but they are just not my style.

I can't wear leather or nylon every day. The shite gets nasty and worn out. Metal never holds moisture, doesn't stink, doesn't crack and fall apart, ect.

I take mine off to work out. I've had it on 23 hours a day with few exceptions for two years and it still looks brand new. metal>others

I think I'm going to get a black Stowa Antea small second as my next watch, how does the pricing on their watches work? I'm guessing we don't pay VAT because we aren't a EU country, but do we have to pay taxes on it to receive it here in the U.S.?

I'm in love with this watch. Broke my heart when I realized it costs close to 4 grand. I've never owned a watch, and wouldn't spend more than $100 on one.

If anybody knows of a similar watch, that's cheap as hell, I'd appreciate it.
