Wait, wait, wait...explain this one to me. You are claiming you, private citizens, have been afforded "carte blanche" by your local police department to don police gear and use it to represent yourselves as authorities and stop any private citizen from free travel simply based on your arbitrary, non-delineated suspicions?
What neighborhood in what city is this exactly?
This cannot be legal unless they are deputized.

Lol I thought that based on the threads he started, now I know he's even worse IRL.
I wouldn't even stop for him.

Well if people like you werent giving out highway tickets like candy than drivers wouldnt have to worry about going five mph or so over everytime we see "protect and serve" lights. Did you know some people have to choose between paying their traffic ticket and their rent. Your scum and another pawn in a huge money making scheme where your at the bottom. Oh, and dont give me the line where I will need a police officer one day, because I will never call yall.

Checkpoints are unconstitutional. It's has nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with control and money.

I don't have any because I haven't lived in Louisiana in almost 2 decades and have never seen them in the other states I've lived in.

We have HOA approval and full backing. They are the law here.

How does it feel to be poor and useless?

Maybe. Are you T Jenkins of the Baton Rouge police department who gave me an MIP back in 2012 that cost me seven hundred dollars. Great money making scheme there. Or are you a Jefferson Parish police officer who once told me to fight a perpetrator because they won't be able to find me.

People with this mentality ARE the problem. People who think that think their driving isn't impaired after a few drinks. If you're pushing .08, your reaction time is affected.
True, but a lot of things affect reaction time driving. Many are still legal depending on the State, and there are studies that show that they are often worse than "buzzed" driving at 0.08 BAC. Using a blanket statement by saying reaction time is affected doesn't factor in statistical relevance to real world driving scenarios. Most tests are conducted under over exaggerated hazard conditions.
To further my earlier point, 70% of all alcohol related crashes occur when the driver is at or above twice the legal limit. Drivers at the legal limit are lumped in with those containing a BAC up to 0.14 which gives a worse reaction time than 0.08.
If I feel motivated later perhaps I'll try to parse out the other 30% and compare it to state from other types of car crashes.
What's interesting is that checkpoints only appear to prevent 9% of all alcohol related crashes. Yet interlocking devices prevent up to 70% of alcohol related crashes by repeat offenders. It would be interesting to see if insurance companies could push to have these installed with the condition of lowered premiums.

my story is almost identical to yours.
im leaving pint night, had 4 beers. not drunk at all, but at that nice buzz. driving home to my place at Lake Beau Pre. I'm on Brightside and pass a State Trooper going the opposite way. he pulls around and kills his lights, but i dont notice. follows me down to River, where I do a rolling stop (allegedly). he pulls me over in the first beau pre (the houses)
i roll down all my windows and turn all the cab lights on. he tells me to get out. i walk over. older black guy.
when i tell you i fricked up nearly every single thing i said, i mean it. he asked where i was coming from, i say "Corner Bar, uh, I mean Bulldog". He asks where that is and I say its in between College and Acadian on Perkins. He asks if I know what I did, I tell him no. He says rolling stop and I said "ahh yeah, that's a bad habit." he goes "oh, it's a habit of yours?" i started stuttering and I'm like "uhh no sir, i meant to say it's a bad habit that everyone is guilty of from time to time." he asks a few other things that i forgot, but i remember fricking up all my answers there too.
he walks up and peers inside my truck and walks back. he looks at my license and says "you live near here?" I said yes, in teh condos one street over. he thinks and says "be safe tonight. watch those rolling stops."
my a-hole was clenched for nearly 2 weeks after

I'm thinking to myself "you stupid frick, you are about to be arrested Bexause you sound like an idiot"
this was me the entire time.

One time I saw a DUI checkpoint and drove through it without issue because I'm not a scumbag piece of shite who drinks and drives.
