I took a couple young ladies to NOLA ComicCon once. One of them got into Cosplay and makeup, had her own website, but out of costume she was a complete introverted nerd, homeschooled due to social anxiety. Something about dressing up turned her into an entirely different person. She took her own Cosplay pics and the only time I photographed her in a costume was at RenFest. Enjoyed shooting some snapshots with her though. Had the cutest feet and shoes. But ComicCon itself was vastly overpriced unless you are given free entry by virtue of costuming, and there are better looking ladies elsewhere.

True, but most of the ones that look professionally made up are either models or wannabe models trying to get their big break. Some of them have no effin' idea what costume it is they're wearing or who they're "playing" until the day they put the gear on. They're there for PR. You can tell the model wannabes from the casual girl fans that make their own gear and makeup. The later are there for fun and male attention. The wannabes wouldn't touch the guys that go to these things with a ten foot pole.
