To be fair, the pickings for wife material are pretty slim these days. The pickings for a month of fun however are endless. Easy to confuse the two in the moment.
Finding a fling is like shooting fish in a barrel. Marriage material is like looking for a needle in a haystack the size of a dump truck.

Always time for that after golf.
Or before. My wife always liked morning sex. We would go at it before I left. I told her it made me play better, of course that wasn’t true and she knew it.

I know a guy who was married for over 20 years, had a great career, 5 kids and a fat wife. She had gastric bypass, lost all the weight, became super fine and left him for a guy the same age as their oldest daughter(24).

The 50% number is overstated and oversold

Not only is the general divorce rate most likely to have never exceeded 40 percent but the current rate is probably closer to 30 percent.

I feel so bad for him. He’s a nice guy. I tried to warn him, but he’s going to learn the hard way like I did.
Count me in the 20%

It is a legal contract. Remember this at all times and prepare yourself accordingly.
I could go back in time and bash this into the 27 year old me.

Which is the point of the PSA.

I'm married now to another woman, going on nearly 25 years, have kids, and my wife is a senior executive at a Forbes 50 company making a great income. We have a second home, nice cars, furniture, art, paying cash for college and plenty of cash in the bank for retirement. We travel, go to expensive dinners, sporting events and buy things we don't need. We're very comfortable in that regard.
Congrats on your success. If this is true you are in the top percentage of income earners and your experience isn't going to reflect the reality of relationships for the vast majority of men and women. Especially young ones. You are basically bragging about beating a game on the easy setting.

Ask yourself, "What's important?"
The two most important things are stability and money. Don't take this as me saying the compatibility isn't extremely important in a relationship. How many women and men do you think are financially stable or able to live happily within their means? It's a small percentage. Hence the statement in my original post.

But also, freaking initiate. Send her text messages about how hot she is. Grab her waste and draw her close when you get home. Kiss her good night. Kiss her in the morning. Hold her hand while you’re out.
Initiating is against the law now

Why would a random psychologist be writing about government statistics without a single source other than feels

This is awesome, in a completely depressing way.
I was on a rig in Oklahoma and had just gotten engaged.
Old man, 3x divorced, toolpusher: “You going to love her your entire life?”
Me: “I hope so”
Toolpusher: “Willing to bet half for s#!t you won’t?”
So far so good (10 years in) but it always stuck with me.

I have an honest question for the OT. I am a single man in my mid 50’s. I met this beautiful lady who worked for a drugstore. She recently got married but she seems somber. I don’t believe she is happy but she went through with the marriage. I know she likes me and has told me so. She knows I crush on her 40 year old body and personality.
What should I do ? She left the drugstore to work elsewhere. Do I move on ? Do I wait it out ?

Thanks for posting this so we can more clearly identify the neckbeard ratio on this site.

Her marriage is not your responsibility.
Find a way to get in contact and see where it goes.

Are you so desperate for sex that you will risk being shot by an angry husband?
