Posted On Wednesday 9/23/2020 - It looks like things will be quiet across the Atlantic, Caribbean and the Gulf of Mexico for about the next week or so.
Unfortunately, this break in activity may be rather short-lived as it appears we may see another round of tropical development to occur by about October 4 in the western and northwestern Caribbean.
It appears that the combination of a upward motion pulse of the Madden Julian Oscillation, a westward moving tropical wave interacting with forcing from a frontal boundary to the north and very warm waters over the Caribbean will all potentially lead to tropical development to occur starting around the 4th of October.
Any tropical system that forms in the western/northwestern Caribbean will need to be watched extremely closely. The reason why is because this system could be pulled north and northeastward towards Florida, the Bahamas and then up the US East Coast. The reason why is that there are signs in the data that suggest there could be a trough of low pressure over the eastern United States that may try to pull any western Caribbean tropical system north and then northeastward.
At this point, this is something to not to overly worry about just yet. Instead, it is something to keep a very close eye on for now.

GFS temps aren't to be trusted more than a couple days out. It always shows cold shots that never happen.

The weather has been magical here in Louisville. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 40s. Able to completely cut the A/C off and enjoy the balcony.

You believe this? There was a projected cold front like 3 weeks ago if I recall correctly that ended up being a bust.

If it's 40's this far out, we're going to be in the 50's when it gets here. That means about 75-80 during the day.

Winds are expected to be out of the North by the middle of next week, so even if it doesn't get as cool as they're predicting, it's gonna be fricking dry and awesome.

I'm going with "legit, but not as deep as they're predicting".

I'm done with this hot/humid crap.
the prevalency of cognizant, grown arse men on the OT who choose to live in the southeastern united states --a region designated as a, "humid subtropical climate zone"-- and who bitch and moan and decry the heat and humidity is nothing if not perplexing to me.

it's the equivalent of staunch, big government democrats bitching about the police state when they themselves volunteered in the police state and thereby choose to willingly live within it: it's the fault of you all who choose to live here in this humid subtropical climate zone that it's hot and humid.

stfu about it already.

and no, i assure you, you are not "done" with the heat and humidity so long as you stick around, assuming you're in the southeast -- a humid subtropical climate zone.

frick cold weather.

it's why i live in a humid subtropical climate zone.
