I believe it.

Why on earth would you retire and then voluntarily go to law school? Audit a few classes you are interested i. The point of a JD is, despite what the SJWs and ABA tell you, to make a living for yourself based on that degree.

Wow, that's incredible. I've been thinking about retiring for a couple of years and I thought I might go to law school just to say I did. You guys are talking me off the ledge.
With your background, it would probably be a great idea.

Unless you have money to burn, I don't see the reason for taking on such a large amount of debt after retirement just to say you went to law school.

Did any of you ever stop and consider the fact that maybe you just really like complaining about your jobs?

bucket list? I don't know, I would probably only do it if I could call in a marker or two with some of my attorney buddies that have been practicing since LSU days ended that might just use me on a contract basis, don't think I'd be looking to put up a shingle, still thinking about it, would rather be an LSU prof that gets caught up in a teacher/student scandal that would make the OT

This is a very bad idea.
As Mark Twain explained, to gain that knowledge it to lose something:
"Now when I had mastered the language of this water and had come to know every trifling feature that bordered the great river as familiarly as I knew the letters of the alphabet, I had made a valuable acquisition. But I had lost something, too. I had lost something which could never be restored to me while I lived. All the grace, the beauty, the poetry had gone out of the majestic river!"
"No, the romance and the beauty were all gone from the river. All the value any feature of it had for me now was the amount of usefulness it could furnish toward compassing the safe piloting of a steamboat. Since those days, I have pitied doctors from my heart. What does the lovely flush in a beauty's cheek mean to a doctor but a 'break' that ripples above some deadly disease. Are not all her visible charms sown thick with what are to him the signs and symbols of hidden decay? Does he ever see her beauty at all, or doesn't he simply view her professionally, and comment upon her unwholesome condition all to himself? And doesn't he sometimes wonder whether he has gained most or lost most by learning his trade?"

I understand the analogy, just don't see how it applies to considering going to law school

For the sake of clarity, how old are you?

At your age, unless you're ridiculously loaded, there's no reason to spend that amount of money and work 50+ hours a week in law school (at least for the first year) for no particular reason. Again, I'm no career counselor, however.

I won't tell someone who really wants to go to law school not to do it. I enjoyed it.
But what else is on the bucket list?

I think a guy with your experience would enjoy law school,
I sort of "audited" it when I was in school, started dating my gf when I was freshman and she was a senior, she went to law school when I was a soph. and graduated as I was finishing my undergrad, I studied with her and all of her friends, went to all the functions, played on the ls basketball team, even took a ls final on the levee with Pascal, a few of his favorites and a case of wine

what are we talking here? I looked it a couple of years ago but forgot, just tuition and books?

I dunno. I went on a full ride.
