When you show up to a call about a theft, the victim says their video cameras caught the possible thief... why would you not ask for a copy of the video and maybe take fingerprints?

The "WTF you talkin' about, Bard?" link

Just in case the link doesn't work:

quote:

Stole a couple of generators and compressor. I even have him on camera peeping in my windows. Please be on the look out. At 5:15pm 10/21/19 Came back at 10:15pm

Q: Did you turn this over to the Sheriff's Dept.?

A: Yes and showed them video but unless I see them to identify them nothing can be done. Didn't take finger prints or ask for videos.

What kind of "police work" is this?

I wouldn't even call that police work. It's sad how some jurisdictions handle calls.

The NOPD calls this "your problem, not ours".

They'll gather that stuff from the homeowner when called back to send the coroner to fetch that thief's corpse from the yard.

Standard operating procedure for BRPD. They give ZERO frickS about property or even violent crime. If they cannot extract ticket revenue from it, they don’t care.

We had a DRIVE-BY SHOOTING on my street in a nice neighborhood. The shooting was captured on tape, the vehicle was described to authorities as well as caught on camera, the bullet casings were located, people even described when that vehicle would regularly drive through the neighborhood each day. BRPD basically laughed and didn’t do a goddamn thing. They never followed through on the investigation, no arrests, no leads, just threw the shite in the trash. They acted annoyed with the homeowners and residents who had bullet holes in the brick facade, whose homes were shot up during dinner time.

If this had happened in AP, I guarantee those responsible would have been in jail inside of 3 days.

From what I gather they offered it to the officer who responded but the officer just blew it off.
