What gets me in these photos is the water itself is so calm.

HWRF heading toward the AL/MS border as a cat 4:

HMON shows a very sloppy weak system heading toward LA/TX

Those are for Laura

For TD 14:

HWRF shows it as a category 2/3 heading into Cameron Parish

HMON shows TD 14 going into Vermillion Bay as a category 2/3

These change drastically each run so take it with a grain of salt.

For reference, Hurricane Gustav was 110mph at landfall, which made him a borderline category 2/3.

Dude! My god!

That’s a serious issue!

Hasn’t HWRF been accurate this year?

I really don't know. I don't follow the HWRF & HMON very closely so I have no idea how accurate they've been.

HWRF is typically bullish, perhaps way too much so, on its intensity forecasts IIRC

Looks like the NHC is closely following the HWRF then. That's almost spot on, at least in TRACK - not intensity.

Not sure if you're joking or not, but honestly I think if it still looks this way on Saturday afternoon, I'm heading out to get some shite.

Scale of 1-10, what are my chances of still being able to take my fishing trip out of Biloxi next Friday?

But also realize the hurricane models aren't really intensifying the other one when they do storm scale projections and that would certainly throw a wrench into the intensity forecasts.

Don't pay attention to the pressure and winds, but do pay attention when they show quick strengthening as that is a pretty good signal conditions will be favorable for the storms.

Also:

Spann posted a video yesterday from someone offshore of Louisiana who had 9 waterspouts in one video. I guess it’s the same ones as the photo you posted.
